What are the responsibilities and job description for the Subcontract Planner position at FINCANTIERI MARINE GROUP?
Position Summary:
This position is responsible of scheduling, planning and managing the outsourced activities of the projects. The terms "outsorced activities" is referred to turn keys activities or activities to be carry out (in terms of workforce) by external vendors (examples: HVAC, ventilation system, insulation, Cargo Handling System, joinery, etc). The successful candidate will help to support these processes through the management of external resources in an effort to level load and balance production schedules.
Detailed Description:
- Review drawings, build plans, and production schedules to manage the outsourced activities.
- Understand production schedules and potential constraints through collaboration with production and production planning.
- Participate to the "make/buy" analysis before RFQ or during the Bidding phase of new projects.
- Understand the components of an outsourced works outfit list , in way to avoid "lack of responsabilities" in supply chain & production/installation.
- Support engineering department in preparing PTS relevant to outsourced activities.
- Support Purchasing and Project Management Team , comparing for a technical point of view the quotes received from the different the vendors, during the selecting process.
- Preparing a "grid of competence" matrix valuable for all possible projects.
- Coordinate schedules, deliveries, inspections, buffer storage area and routing of incoming outsourced item.
- Expedite/De-expedite deliveries as required.
- Develop and monitor quality criteria.
- Monitor and track supplier performance in price, quality and on time deliveries.
- Develop an understanding of supplier capabilities, schedules/backlog and available capacity.
- Manage existing outsource vendors and identify, qualify and develop new potential vendors.
- Comprehend drawings and blueprints along with the ability to create and modify drawings through AutoCAD.
- Act as a liaison between purchasing, production and outsource supplier.
- Be responsible of progress report of the works associated with outsourced activities.
- Ability and willingness to engage in highly energetic pursuits on the waterfront.
- Maintain a commitment to and promote the Quality and Environmental, Health & Safety Policies.
- Abide by all organizational policies and procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Lead and direct hourly employees in the material handling and shipping/receiving areas as needed. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding's policies, and procedures. Willingness to be a mentor and demonstrate leadership skills that align with the mission, vision, and values of Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding.
