What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Designer position at Fireblast Global, Inc.?
Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Designer is responsible for creating and updating product & component designs, using SolidWorks CAD software, in a 5S Lean Manufacturing environment. The Mechanical Designer will perform design calculations, manufacturability analysis, and use product design & function specifications to deliver product designs that meet our customers’ needs.
Job Tasks
· Create 3D mechanical models & assemblies using SolidWorks CAD Software based on sketches, specifications, technical data, and customer needs. Utilize advanced SolidWorks Features such as Weldment and Sheet Metal tools.
· Create fully detailed 2D mechanical drawings using Solidworks & AutoCAD based on 3D models and assemblies for use with in-house manufacturing and outside fabrication.
· Maintain engineering-related portions of company-wide ERP System (Microsoft Dynamics NAV). Candidate will create and maintain Part Numbers, BOMs, Routings, and assist Sales with customer product selection.
· Streamline product designs based on Lean practices, design calculations, manufacturability, manufacturing time, material/component selection, and workflow, and customer needs.
· Review and revise drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness with regards to company standards, functionality, regulations, and product requirements.
· Maintain drawing & model library, archiving old engineering files upon release of revised drawings, per company standards.
· Support Manufacturing and Installation Teams with products from start of manufacturing to end of installation. This includes performing cursory and documented manufacturing inspections, supporting manufacturing team by answering questions, and verifying proper product installation.
· Other engineering-related duties as assigned.
· Participate and Contribute to our 5S Lean work culture of Continuous Improvement.
Candidate Qualifications
· Strong Knowledge of SolidWorks, including Weldment and Sheet Metal tools. 3 years experience required.
· Formal SolidWorks Education (classes, certificates, etc.) is a plus.
· Strong Knowledge of Parametric Modeling and Drawing View Layout principles.
· Knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
· Strong interpersonal communication skills.
· Great attention to detail.
· Motivated Self-Starter capable of working independently and in team environments. Candidate will be a results-driven individual, dedicated to fulfilling both team members’ and customers’ needs.
· Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
· High School Diploma.
· Experience in the Steel Fabrication Industry is preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
