Job Summary & Accountabilities

First Bankers Trustshares, Inc. is a bank holding company incorporated on August 25, 1988 and is headquartered in Quincy, Illinois. First Bankers Trust Company, N. A., a subsidiary of First Bankers Trustshares, Inc., is the area's largest commercial bank employing approximately 200 full and part time associates serving the communities of Quincy, Mendon, Carthage, Rushville, Macomb and Springfield, Illinois; and has market presence in adjacent counties in Illinois and Missouri.

The primary business of First Bankers Trust is that of a community-oriented financial institution working hand in hand with the people we serve to achieve their dreams through high value, innovative financial products and services.

This position is responsible for providing existing and potential customers with a variety of services, including processing banking transactions, assisting with account troubleshooting, and processing miscellaneous requests. This position is also accountable for promoting the benefits, features and practical usage of our banking products and services to existing and potential customers.

• Executes customer banking transactions
• Answers customer questions, assists with customer requests, researches account issues, and resolves issues and problems.
• Posts transactions, pays out funds, verifies cash, and performs other duties related to executing customer transactions.
• Identifies counterfeit currency.
• Promotes and cross-sells bank products and services.
• Executes branch opening and closing and duties related to these activities.
• Executes cash and coin maintenance activities.
• Balances cash drawer daily.
• Prepares miscellaneous reports and paperwork and conducts audits as necessary.
• Attends Branch meetings and scheduled meetings for bank wide participation.
• Intermittent travel between Quincy branches and to our Mendon branch is required on an as needed basis.
• Performs other duties as requested or assigned.

Key Competency Requirements

• Associates Degree or equivalent experience preferred
• 3-6 months of related experience/exposure within  the banking industry preferred
• Demonstrates aptitude for mathematical and/or financial transactions
• Demonstrates ability to execute day to day work under direct supervision
• Demonstrates strong customer service skills (customer-oriented)
• Demonstrates ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and multi-task daily job duties
• Demonstrates ability to address basic job related/technical issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff
• Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrates strong team collaboration/team work skills, with ability to work in diverse teams and build/maintain positive working relationships
• Demonstrates ability to interact efficiently with banking software, as well as utilize common office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and related applications; willingness to learn new technologies
• Demonstrates problems solving skills

Collecting, moving and transporting information.  Significant amount of time is spent reading regulations and reports.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.  The employee is required to collect and move files/information.
