Description
Based in the Quakertown, PA facility, the Weaver sets up and operates looms to manufacture and produces products for medical and/or industrial clients. The incumbent is assigned to Industrial Weaving or Medical Weaving and typically operates either a broad loom or a shuttle loom. Training will be conducted on 1st shift from (7am to 3pm), for 2 to 3 months before transferring to 2nd shift (3pm to 11pm) which will be the long term assignment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Draws in warp yarn according to specifications.
- Follows procedures to install lease(s)/lease rods and knot tying warp(s) as necessary.
- Completes all documentation requirements.
- Manufactures various fabrics and woven products according to requirements.
- Identifies and corrects defects.
- Records qualitative and quantitative measurements in accordance with internal specifications
- Makes processing adjustments to ensure quality product.
- Follows all applicable company work instructions, S.O.P.’s, and guidelines.
- Follows established safety requirements and adheres to Fenner Framework HSE Management System.
- Performs other job related responsibilities as assigned.
Shuttle (Narrow and Needle) Loom Weavers
- Operates looms equipped with automatic motions to stop loom at yarn breaks or after weaving specified number of picks.
- Follows specifications to reed and install reeds into various looms.
- Replaces defective shuttles, tension springs, and shuttle eyes, using hand tools.
- May replace defective heddles and doups, using hand tools on shuttle looms.
- Makes quills.
- May doff grafts from the looms
Physical Demands:
- Occasionally positions self by stooping, bending, crawling, crouching or kneeling.
- Occasionally climbs stairs and/or ladder.
- Considerable manual dexterity required.
- Must be able to see fine denier yarns to detect defects occurring in fabrics.
- Must have finger dexterity to knot, thread and handle fine yarns
- Ability to lift 25-50 lbs. unassisted
- Frequently moves, pushes, pulls or lifts materials up to 50-100 lbs assisted.
- Occasionally uses repetitive movement of hands & arms.
- Requires constant standing for prolonged periods of time, up to 8 hours or more a day.
- Constant exposure to noisy environment where hearing protection must be worn.
- Must be able to concentrate on job for sustained periods of time.
- Must be able to use a variety of tools and instruments to perform the various functions of the job-pick glass, weaver’s hook, scissors. etc.
- May be required to wear gloves and goggles when cleaning with alcohol or other similar products.
Work Environment:
- Adheres to GMP/QSR requirements and follows applicable QMS documentation (e.g., SOP’s, Work Instructions) to successfully accomplish job requirements.
- Follows Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies and procedures, including wearing hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, eye protection as required.
- Follows gowning procedures in designated areas.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends, as needed
Interaction:
- Frequent interaction with department on all shifts.
- Occasional interaction with management.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers and management.
- Must be able to hand off the status of jobs to overlapping shifts.
- Ability to understand and follow the requirements of applicable work instructions and/or internal specifications.

- Possess basic mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

2nd Shift Monday to Friday 3:00pm to 11:00pm. Pay $17.00. 4 months trainning will be in the 1st shift 7:00am to 3:00pm. after 4 months of trainning pay rate will be $18.70 per hour.
3rd Shift Monday to Friday 11:00pm to 7:00am, Pay $17.00 Training will be for 4 months on the 1 st shift 7:00am to 3:00pm. After 4 months trainning pay will be $20.57 per hour.
