Director of Meal Ministry

Responsible for the planning, cooking, serving and clean-up of two church-family meals per week. Create a hospitable, clean, safe and healthy atmosphere.

Essential Functions:

Works closely with Volunteers and the Pastors to:

• Plan and order ingredients for weekly meals: Sunday evenings for the youth groups, and Wednesday evenings for intergenerational faith formation.
• Cook and set-up meals taking into consideration balanced nutrition and allergies, providing vegetarian and gluten-free options for each meal.
• Clean-up afterward.
• Follow all safety precautions/standards, policies, and procedures, including applicable building and safety codes, hazardous waste disposal, and O.S.H.A.
• This role supports the congregation, elders, deacons, staff, and clergy in providing opportunities to break bread together, to be care-filled in our inclusion of folks with dietary restrictions and needs, and to establish our reputation in the community as a church where you can come to be fed. Whether you’re a member or just passing through, you belong at the table here. The Director of Meal Ministries will be the leader in making sure all is prepared, and welcome is clearly and warmly communicated.

Qualifications

Background

• Experience and interest in culinary arts and hospitality.

Core Competencies

• Able to plan or prepare healthy meals within a budget, paying close attention to allergies and special dietary needs.
• Welcoming, hospitable personality.
• Understands safe and sanitary kitchen practice.
• Able to work with a variety of volunteers.

Work Environment

• Well-kept and clean church kitchen.
• The position runs from September-May and meals are served on Sunday and Wednesday evenings.

Evaluation

• The Associate Pastor along with a member of the Staff Parish Relations Committee will conduct an annual review and performance evaluation.
