Controller

Overview:
Establish and maintain an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of First Shore Federal, including financial consolidation of branches. Document internal controls within the accounting department to ensure that records are accurate and proper controls are in place.

Duties:
· Maintain accuracy of the general ledger and bank accounts.

· Review or prepare reconciliations of accounts.

· Review invoices periodically to ensure accuracy and appropriate approval.

· Manage cash balances to maximize income on cash held while maintaining liquidity levels necessary to operate. Prepare cash flow projections and reports.

· Account for investments, including purchases, sales, pledges, monthly payments, and market value adjustments.

· Calculate estimated tax payments and submit them timely.

· Oversee cross training in the department and interaction with other departments. Ensure backup is available.

· Work with vendor contracts as assigned.

· Work with correspondent banks and their online systems. Assist in maintaining users to ensure proper use and authorities by our employees.

· Prepare audit schedules timely for regulatory audit or outside auditor.

· Prepare monthly financial statements and liquidity reports for the board of directors and/or senior management.

· Assist with preparation of budget and analysis of budget variances.

· Maintain fixed assets system and cross train as appropriate.

· Oversee personal property, backup withholding, and other tax returns.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
