What are the responsibilities and job description for the VP, Engineering (DXO) position at Fiserv?
As the VP, Engineering (DXO), you will lead the buildout of Fiserv’s design platform for our innovative products and solutions. Your valuable experience and expertise will help drive transformative capabilities for our clients.
You will lead the development of “low-code/no-code” digital design platform upon which next generation digital products will be built and operate. You will ensure backend connectivity and API complexities are hidden from the front-end user experience development layer to improve speed to market and consistency in product delivery. You will work closely with our product designers, engineering, front end platforms, and business development. You will also serve as a resource for conceptualizing, architecting and leading development teams to build Fiserv’s next generation digital platform driven by design and optimal user experience.
Additionally, you will partner with senior leaders and product teams to envision new ways that can positively impact core business objectives. Evaluate and quantify the business and technical impact and potential partnership/acquisition opportunities.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Provide technical consultation and recommendations to support the development of an innovative digital design platform. Consult with development teams and provide thought leadership.
- Recommend design strategy in alignment with business goals and ensure cross-functional support. Lead key development initiatives and drive delivery of product.
- Monitor strategically critical systems and research issues to define risks and develop mitigation plans. Work closely with Development, Product and Sales to keep senior leadership informed.
- Develop strong working relationships with internal partners. Effectively communicate vision to ensure alignment with business goals. Motivate the teams to deliver great results under tight timelines.
- Create a structure and implement effective processes for agile and rapid experimentation and innovation delivery.
- Evangelize design thinking across all levels of the organization to ensure innovation efforts reflect customer needs, can be successfully executed, and align with corporate strategy. Ensure innovation provides value to clients and cultivate long-term relationships with those clients.
- Support the technology and product strategy roadmap discussions with current and future enterprise customers.
- Promote the culture of evidence-based innovation across Fiserv, and help build a stronger, and more innovative brand.

What you need to have:
You are a leader with a track record of outstanding program management and execution while possessing the following experiences and characteristics:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field; MBA/MS preferred
- 15 years of relevant experience in technology sector focused on building products from scratch both backend server as well as front end platforms.
- Proficiency conceptualizing, launching and delivering innovative solutions.
- Experience and expertise in modern technology stack, development platforms – technology business use cases and models and associated financial planning
- Track record of delivering independently, driving change, handling uncertainty and creating structure amid ambiguity.
- Ability to present, articulate, and champion technology and architecture decisions, associated analysis on a routine basis to all stakeholders as well as diverse team
- Senior management and leadership skills to create a vision, mobilize and empower teams to achieve, build and execute on objectives
- Experience assimilating quickly into new environments by absorbing information that creates a deep understanding of business process, strategic goals, and objectives. Connect multiple data points in new and insightful ways to make sense of complex and ambiguous situations.
