Organization Overview:
Five Wings Arts Council (FWAC) is one of eleven regional arts councils in the Minnesota statewide arts system, working in partnership with the Minnesota State Arts Board to distribute funding from the MN State Legislature, MN Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund and The McKnight Foundation.
FWAC serves the residents of Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd, and Wadena counties in Minnesota by providing grants and technical support for artists and organizations which provide arts experiences in this region. As one of eleven regional arts councils in Minnesota, FWAC collaborates with the Minnesota State Arts Board to distribute funding from various sources, including the State Legislature, MN Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, and The McKnight Foundation. FWAC is a non-profit organization that is governed by an 11-member Board of Directors. The FWAC office is currently located in Staples, MN, the central point of Minnesota’s Region Five.

Position Summary:
The Executive Director serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Five Wings Arts Council (FWAC), reporting directly to the Board of Directors. This role is responsible for ensuring the consistent achievement of the organization's mission and financial objectives.
Pay range: $75,000 - $85,000
Benefits: Paid vacation, sick leave, family medical leave, holidays, matching retirement program, stipend to offset health insurance premiums or medical costs.
Hours: Work week is typically Monday–Friday, daytime hours, with the exception of one evening board meeting per month, and occasional special activities that require evening or weekend attention. This is a salaried position.
Position Description:
The Executive Director will lead FWAC in managing a highly effective grant-making system, advancing rural arts and cultural development, developing staff, and representing FWAC throughout the five-county region. This role requires decisive leadership, a shared vision for the organization, and expertise in art, grant making, and rural community development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Organizational Management and Administration: Oversee overall operations, develop long-term strategies, and ensure compliance with regulations and funding sources.
Communications, Advocacy, and Outreach: Keep the Board informed, promote the organization's activities, and establish relationships with key stakeholders.
Human Resources and Staff Management: Supervise staff, develop personnel policies, and maintain a professional working environment.
Budget and Finance: Manage the organization's finances, including budgeting, reporting, and financial practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in arts administration, nonprofit management, cultural affairs, community development, or related field, or equivalent experience.
In-depth knowledge of nonprofit management, rural development, accounting and data tracking, and Minnesota's legislative process.
Strong leadership, communication, financial, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in computer and online platforms.
Experience in collaborating with diverse stakeholders and working with a Board of Directors.
