What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Designer position at Fives?
We have an opening for a Mechanical Piping Designer in the Toledo, OH area. This position requires a motivated, decisive individual with the ability to work within schedule and budget constraints with minimal supervision while in the office or traveling. The ideal candidate can work well in project teams and can communicate applicable concepts and ideas to customers, suppliers and engineering and commissioning personnel.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Using appropriate design tools and programs to complete design drawings, 3D piping design, Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID's) as instructed.
Completing the appropriate stress analysis calculation on mechanical components, piping and pipe supports.
Provide strategic thinking, planning and prioritization of activities in order to achieve the complete tasks assigned on time and in accordance with quality standards.
Track the development of assigned design tasks through regular communication with Project Managers and your Supervisor.
Participate in regular project meetings with the project team throughout the project lifecycle.
Participate in regular project design and engineering review meetings with the customer as required.
Establish and maintain data libraries pertinent to the piping design function.
Development of Bills of Material.
Professional attitude and strong communication skills
Qualifications:
Technical Degree (Associate's or Bachelor's) is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
3 years of experience in the design and specification of piping systems involving industrial chemical or mechanical processes including steel or plastic tanks for liquid and solids storage or fume/ exhaust ductwork.
Prior experience working on refinery or energy industry related projects is ideal.
Experienced working with laser scan point clouds
Experience in AutoDesk Plant 3D and/or piping design software.
Moderate to Extensive PC skills utilizing MS Office.
Familiarity with ASME and/or ISO standards and technical specifications
