In-House Counsel provides continuous support to Chief Legal Officer (CLO) and acts in the absence of the CLO when called upon. Provides continuous support to Flagler Health team with regards to business affairs and ensuring compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Continuously analyzes and ensures compliance with established county, state, and federally mandated policies and procedures, including licensing and accreditation programs
Essential Responsibilities
Serves under the oversight of the CLO and acts in their absence when designated.
In coordination with the CLO, oversees the development and implementation of policies, procedures, strategic plans, systems and related initiatives consistent with the attorney-client relationship for Flagler Health .
Oversees the formulation and implementation of short-term and long-term goals and plans to improve the efficiency and efficacy of the legal representation for Flagler Health .
Delivers continuous support to the Flagler Health leaders to provide review and consultation services for business affairs and contractual agreements to ensure the protection of the organization and its funds.
Assists the CLO in ensuring the organization conducts its business in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Responds timely to inquiries from government agencies and other constituencies in coordination with the CLO.
Plans and develops programs to ensure compliance with established county, state, and federally mandated policies and procedures, including licensing and accreditation programs.
In coordination with the CLO, provides support for the Corporate Compliance Officer on legal matters.
In coordination with the CLO, formulates policies designed to implement Board directives and improve the health system’s image and relations with customers, board, patients, physicians, regulatory agencies, employees, politicians, and the general public/community at large.
Oversees the supervision, review, hire and termination of assigned Legal Department staff.
A minimum of 2 years experience in Health Law, including Contracts and Risk Management is required.
This position is based at Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine and the selected candidate is expected to work on site.
