TITLE: Attendance Clerk
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma - two years college preferred.
- Typing skills at 50 wpm at a computer keyboard.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Highly accurate in clerical work.
- Ability to converse with individuals with diverse backgrounds.

REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL: To keep an accurate record of students’ absences and to improve the average daily attendance of the school. To operate the school computer system to minimize paperwork tasks for teachers and administrators.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collects daily attendance reports and records information using PowerSchool.
- Admits tardy students, sending them to class with appropriate slip.
- Confers with parents on daily absences.
- Accurately maintains state attendance registers for homeroom teachers – recording absences, tardies, and suspensions where appropriate.
- Counsels students in matters of attendance and tardiness and makes every effort to gain their cooperation.
- Investigates attendance problems and reports findings to principal and guidance.
- Maintains a file of referrals, counseling, and action taken.
- Assists school secretary as needed.
- Maintains computer file of students, parents, faculty, and staff.
- Implements the various software programs as directed by the principal.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in computer application through district in-service training.
- Informs the principal of potential problem areas in the software implementation.
- Other duties as requested.
