Donor Relations Manager

Position Overview:
Development uses a range of tactics including moves management, proposal writing, fundraising appeals, direct mail campaigns, special projects, staff-led initiatives and other means to retain and grow the existing donor base and attract new annual fund donors, to support the mission of Florida Rising.
The Donor Relations Manager is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship processes for individual donors. They will manage a robust portfolio to develop donor relations through various revenue streams including peer-to-peer, third-party, online campaigns, and events. They will be responsible for maintaining regular reporting and precise CRM input and management. The Donor Relations Manager will facilitate the execution of donor relations through engagement and recordkeeping or other specific projects/campaigns as directed by the Development Director. This position reports to the Development Director and manages a team.
Paramount to this position is the ability to work with a high degree of independence, and juggle various projects at once, while maintaining a clear view of how each project supports the organization’s mission.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for project management to prepare, execute, and assess annual giving campaigns.
- Responsible for developing and implementing engagement and fundraising strategies to enhance and grow revenue and current and prospective donors.
- Provide leadership and direction to a small team whose focus is to coordinate projects related to development communications that facilitate donor relations and fundraising campaigns.
- Provide comprehensive administrative assistance to the Development Department, with a focus on office and fundraising support, effective database management and reporting, event logistics and donor stewardship efforts (acknowledgements, printed material inventory, prep materials for donor meetings)
- Coordinate small donor engagement with Membership Team for sustainer drives to identify new prospective donors and members interested in giving above and beyond annual dues.
- Work with Donor Relations Specialist to package funding priorities and opportunities as well as gather stats and stories necessary for reports to donors.
- Provide consistent stewardship to the current donor base to deliver regular, meaningful, and timely updates.
- Maintain current records in database and in paper files, including donor profile, moves management action plans and follow-ups, and fundraising reports.
- Coordinate with the membership team to engage annual giving for small donors less than $1,000.
- Work autonomously to build action plans to solicit new and renewal gifts directly from major gift donors above $1,000 and coordinate moves management with leadership on gifts greater than $50,000.
- Identify opportunities that align with Florida Rising’s mission statement and work with staff to create donor engagement initiatives and opportunities.
- As necessary, the Donor Relations Manager will recruit and supervise volunteers to help with department efforts.
Key Qualifications
- Individuals must share a commitment to the organization's mission and vision; experience in nonprofit is an advantage.
- Relationship management skills with 2-3 years of donor relations or frontline fundraising experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong editing skills
- Ability to articulate, express, and demonstrate persuasive proposals swiftly
- Time-management and personal organization skills essential to meet deadlines and manage multiple campaigns or projects simultaneously with sound decision-making skills
- Ability to work cooperatively with and understand persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds
- Ability to work effectively with teams with diverse learning styles and personalities; Ability to work independently, as well as with a team
- Experience working in results-oriented, impact-driven, and fast-paced environments
- Strong computer and internet literacy skills; experience with a CRM and project-management software preferred
- Problem-solving and analytical skills for managing and segmenting data sets
- Position will require the ability to travel locally and work occasional evenings and weekends
