Role Summary:
The NAM Solutions Engineering Manager leads and influences a team of engineering resources across North America who provide technical engineering support to Flowserve’s customers in the oil & gas, chemical, petrochemical, power, water, and other general industries. The Manager will collaborate and partner with the commercial, LCA execution, and aftermarket teams to support account activities related to providing technical support for bad actor equipment, equipment performance, equipment and operational optimization through technical assessments with market leading solutions. Lead the teams in developing technical solutions which leverage the portfolio of Flowserve’s products and services which offer a differentiated experience for the customer.
Responsibilities & Requirements: Accountabilities
- Manage a group of Technical Engineers which are located across North America by maintaining high levels of employee engagement, technical excellence, and customer satisfaction.
- Act as an ambassador of best practices and ensure your teams are continually developing and executing practices and activities which result in a differentiation from Flowserve and its competitors.
- Convey a sense of passion for the work and compel a commitment to the vision and strategic direction of the organization.
- Have a Safety First and Customer Centric attitude that permeates through the team.
- Ensure all team members adhere to all customer and Flowserve policies and procedures.
- Coach and assist the Commercial team on understanding the customer situation and definition of approach and scope of work to maximize opportunities.
- Provide technical guidance to the team and functional teams when addressing FLS equipment performance related issues for the customer.
- Provide guidance and technical support for team members while in the field and working with the customer.
- Act as mentor / coach to the team while focusing on the development of the skillsets of all team members.
- Be engaging with the Commercial leaders to help facilitate the awareness and learnings of FLS associates and channel partners on the team’s capabilities and approach to the market.
- Evaluate and support appropriate processes and standard operating procedures the team is required to follow to ensure key business objectives are being achieved.
- Responsible for the tracking of key business information to maximize activities to support the business objectives of the platform.
- Facilitate problem-solving discussions effectively, with a collaborative approach and a mastery of problem-solving tools and methodologies.
- Ensure Solutions team is maintaining and utilizing gear appropriately, in conjunction with maintenance and data for engineering tools and software licenses.
- Places a high priority on developing technical and business skills across the team.
- Evaluate team members performance; reward successes, and take actions as needed. Complete mid-year and annual performance reviews. Be promotor of talent by recruiting, hiring and developing team members.
Preferred Experience / Skills: Qualifications
- BS Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree.
- Minimum of 10 years relevant experience required in the field of rotating equipment is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory / managerial role with demonstrated experience associated with performance management of a team.
- Minimum of Category 2 vibration analysis certification required.
- Demonstrated ability with ODS, Modal Impact Testing; Fathom; System One, CommTest, & Bentley Nevada.
- Extensive knowledge of the design, industry standards, selection, materials, and operational requirements of rotating equipment, and related equipment.
- Operational knowledge and experience across the industries Flowserve services.
- Must have a demonstrated track record of leading teams regarding problem definition, engineering analysis, and best practices.
- Must demonstrate a collaborative leadership style which promotes teamwork and excellence.
- Must exhibit the ability to develop and deploy tactical level execution plans for associates
- Must exhibit good organizational skills, with the ability to calmly prioritize competing priorities to meet deadlines and requirements.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, projecting a strong customer and associate focus with a positive corporate image.
- Demonstrate the ability to present a technical solution with commercial justification to a diverse audience group.
- Demonstrate initiative, a willingness to learn, a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
- Computer savvy with the ability to learn proprietary systems, and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
- Able to travel domestically
- Able to meet all physical and health requirements to be on customer sites
- Some physical activity required (e.g., walking large customer sites, climbing ladders and staircases in multi-story facilities, etc).
