What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Project Coordinator (CAHSR) position at Fluor Corp?
Fluor is seeking candidates for opportunities within our Program Delivery Support (PDS) team, working alongside the California High-Speed Rail Authority, to provide program delivery and program management services for one of the largest planned infrastructure projects in the U.S.
The system will connect the 500-mile stretch between the Los Angeles region with the San Francisco Bay Area, with up to 24 stations. The first phase of the program is currently under construction in California’s Central Valley.
Under the general direction of the Deputy Director of Infrastructure Delivery and the CP 2-3 Project Director, the CP 2-3 Senior Project Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the successful delivery of assigned projects from inception to closeout, on schedule, within budget, in accordance with the approved scope, meeting established
quality requirements and objectives under the direction of the Project Director and working in concert with the
PCM Delivery Team.
Specific responsibilities include management, oversight, and support of: the project teams in the management and oversight of all elements of the CP 2-3 design-build project, including but not limited to design-build issue
resolution, contract issue resolution, claim resolution, right of way, third parties, etc. The CP 2-3 Senior Project
Coordinator works in the Infrastructure Delivery Branch of the California High-Speed Rail Authority's Office of
Program Delivery.
• Plan, organize, coordinate, and manage delivery of projects utilizing the Authority’s project management
processes and tools with a focus on design-build issue resolution, contract issue resolution, claim resolution,
right of way, and third parties issue resolution. Coordinate with other PDS and Authority functional staff to
timely resolve issues.
• Development, continual improvement and implementation of strategies, policies and procedures, systems
and tools, to support project delivery.
• Support Project Director in special tasks and studies.• Accredited four (4) year degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or global equivalent in applicable field of study and six (6) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to ten (10) years if non-degreed• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
• Strong project and construction management background.
• Proficiency and knowledge of computer software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word and
PowerPoint.
• Familiar with transportation projects and disciplines.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply engineering judgment in areas of design and construction engineering
on transportation projects.
• The ability to maintain good communication skills and working relationships with management,
consultants, private sector contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, and their associations, utility
companies, local agencies and other third parties.
• Strong coordination skills, given the strong matrix organization assembled for the program delivery team.
• Excellent communication and negotiating skills (both written and oral), and the ability to speak
knowledgeably with other consultants, stakeholders, other governmental agencies and individual citizens.
• Ability to analyze situations and data accurately; lead the development of effective solutions and strategies
for difficult planning, environmental, engineering, technical and logistical problems related to delivery of
the high-speed rail project; and collaboratively engage the services of other parties necessary to achieve
results.
