Mechanical Designer I

We have a challenging and exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Designer I with 3D modeling experience and a strong attention to detail.
Primary Purpose:
The Mechanical Designer I creates 3D SolidWorks models and assemblies that meet criteria set forth by Engineering and Product Management. Create detailed drawings of parts, applying correct tolerances and using industry standard (ASME Y14.5) drafting practices. The Mechanical Designer I works hands-on to help assemble prototypes and marketing samples.
Job Description:
- Create 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Create Detail drawing packages for manufacturing and assembly of products.
- Maintain, update and correct existing engineering data and drawings.
- Perform analysis on interaction between machine components and related fits and tolerances.
- Produce and/or assemble prototypes and samples.
- Other tasks assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Required
- Proficient with SolidWorks 3D modeling and detailing.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with constant change.
- Self-directed individual who works well within a team environment.
Preferred
- Strong mechanical intuition.
- Proficient with SolidWorks and PDM.
- Proficient with SolidWorks Sheet Metal.
- Hands on experience with machining, metal fabrication (sheet metal, tubing, weldments), and plastics.
- Ability to perform tolerance analysis and select proper fits based on application.
- Understanding of basic GD&T.
Education/Certification:
Required
- High School Diploma.
Preferred
- Technical degree in mechanical design or in a similar discipline, or equivalent experience.
- SolidWorks certification.
- Previous experience in the Outdoor Power Equipment or Power Tools industry is a plus.
- Experience working in a multi-channel retail business/industry is a plus.
