MEDICATION TECHNICIAN (NOC SHIFT from 10-pm -6-am)
Who you are:
The Medication Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure delivery of medications and health related items to the residents within a Community. The Medication Aide assists in developing, coordinating and performing the tasks on the service plan according to the resident’s preferences and abilities. The Medication Aide serves as a supervisor and monitor to all the Resident Assistants on the same shift.
What you will do:
- Adheres to and conveys the philosophy of Assisted Living. Has awareness and practices in accordance with the regulations of the state.
- Receives report from the previous shift and Med Aide.
- Reads the Communication Log and Shower Schedule for information and changes at the beginning of each day. Documents in the Communication Log and Progress notes, as appropriate throughout the day.
- Assists residents with activities of daily living, environmental orientation, vital signs, first aid wound care, and communication with outside health care professionals.
- Demonstrates knowledge of infection control and universal precautions.
- Documents care given adhering to facility policies and procedures.
- Maintains clean, neat, comfortable, safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors including housekeeping duties as assigned. Assures door is always alarmed, if needed.
- Reports deficiencies observed in resident apartments clothing/linen and facility to administrator. Completes Incident Report form as needed for any unusual occurrence.
- Observes and communicates any changes in resident physical or mental status as directed.
- Is thoroughly familiar with fire, missing persons, and other emergency procedures, follows facility policy and procedures detailed in fire and disaster plans.
- Avoids loss, breakage, and waste of supplies and equipment. Maintains a neat and orderly Medication Room.
- Wears name tag always.
- Assists residents moving in or out as directed.
- Maintains current resident record for each resident including but not limited to, obtaining current physician orders, clarifying orders, and alert and monthly charting.
- Orders, stores, and assists with medications according to facility policy and procedure and current physician orders.
- Maintains, transcribes, and documents in the Medication Assistance Record according to Policy and Procedure.
- Maintains service plans. May participate in Service Plan reviews.
- Supervises and monitors floor staff.
- Performs all other duties assigned by any member of management.

- Abides by established policies and procedures of facility. Looks for ways to improve facility functioning.
- Keeps work areas neat and clean; helps maintain appearance of facility.
- Can communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing.
- Has ability to spend long periods of feet and to ambulate quickly.
- Is free of non-treated communicable diseases.
- Is accurate, dependable, neat, and thorough in assigned tasks.
- Ability and willingness to learn quickly.
- Ability to utilize and apply basic management skills.
