Position Summary Directs and coordinates production control activities of the plant to ensure operation schedulesare established to meet the needs of the customers. Position Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To: • Directs the plant’s material flow activities to ensure production schedules, shortages and newpart launches are properly handled.• Maintains the Plant “Plan For Every Part” (PFEP) system and gives advice, guidance, anddirection to carry out authorized production schedules derived from the optimizer system.• Ensures raw materials and related components are available to meet productionrequirements.• Directs the utilization of outside services and ensures that timing requirements are met.• Provide requested feedback of when parts are being scheduled for completion.• Establishes goals and develops procedures to allow for product availability as needed, whileminimizing raw material work in process and finished goods inventories.• Ensures maintenance of accurate inventory reporting systems.• Works with material expediting within and outside the plant.• Assists in maintaining an effective system of communications throughout the plant.• Supervises employees as assigned.• Handles special projects as required.• Works closely with customers to resolve concerns.• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.Measurements• Reduction of overtime, premium shipment and min lot/break in charges• Reducing Days Inventory On Hand (DIOH) Qualifications-Education/ExperienceRequired: • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent Materials Manager experience.• Minimum 5 years progressive experience in a related manufacturing environment• Prior experience with inventory controls and production planning, especially MRP• Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills• Ability to work well under pressure• Must have flexibility with work schedulePreferred: • Experience supervising a shipping department• Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma training and/or experience• Experience in the manufacturing of fasteners• Experience using QADCompetencies• Business Acumen: Knowledge of general business practices as well as knowledge of theorganizations functioning: An understanding of organizational culture and the ability tofunction effectively within its social structure.• Collaboration: Understanding the importance of relationships to enabling effective teamwork.Modifying personal style, focusing on the needs of others and listening effectively to ensureeffective outcomes for group endeavors.• Innovation: Taking a multi-faceted approach to problem solving and creation of novelsolutions to problems.
