Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the produce department, including ordering, stocking, and maintaining inventory levels
- Ensure that all produce is fresh, properly displayed, and meets quality standards
- Train and develop a team of produce associates, providing guidance and support as needed
- Create and implement strategies to increase sales and meet department goals
- Monitor and analyze sales data to identify trends and adjust inventory accordingly
- Collaborate with other department managers to coordinate promotions and cross-selling opportunities
- Manage payroll and scheduling for the produce department staff
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests in a professional manner
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a produce management role preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively sell products and provide exceptional customer service
- Experience with interviewing, training, and development of staff members
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Knowledge of wireless sales systems is a plus
- Experience in recruiting and hiring new employees
- Proficient in cash handling procedures
