Job Title: Library Clerk

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The job of Library Clerk is to support the schools in maintaining their library collection; assisting students in the library; processing, circulation, maintenance and inventory of library materials. The Library Clerk reports to a school principal or assigned supervisor; works independently on assigned tasks. The Library Clerk does not supervise any employees.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Processes library books, which includes check-in, check-out, and shelving, for the purpose of student access to library materials
  • Repairs books as needed
  • Processes notices of missing, damaged or overdue books for the purpose of securing reimbursement for losses
  • Processes orders for library books, for the purpose of maintaining library collection
  • Inventory library books for the purpose of documenting losses and/or maintaining availability of library collection

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of library systems and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to be self-directed and ability to multi-task
