What are the responsibilities and job description for the RAIL OPERATOR position at Formosa Plastics?
I. POSITION OBJECTIVE
To perform the duties of a Rail Operator within the Inland Traffic Rail Department
II. QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School graduate or equivalent
2. Current, State-issued Driver’s License
3. 5-10 years Railcar Switching experience as a conductor, or switching foreman utilizing a locomotive as switching power
III. TRAINING
Policy, Procedure and Safety training available after hire.
IV. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Act as Permitting PIC on Hazardous Energy Control for Rail.
2. Relieve Shift properly.
3. Scan the rail yard for daily/monthly inventory.
4. Coordinate movement of rail cars.
5. Prepare accurate Inbound/Outbound train list.
6. Complete Monthly Inspections.
7. Schedule and Coordinate rail yard maintenance / PM schedule.
8. Schedule and Coordinate Locomotive maintenance / PM schedule.
9. Inspect equipment.
10. Ensure that shift inspections are being performed.
11. Ensure that THM Policies and Procedures are being performed.
12. Understand all duties performed by rail personnel in Inland Traffic Rail Operation.
13. Maintain log book.
14. Adhere/Implement/educate/train and adhere to all company policies and procedures including but not limited to, ISO, personnel, quality, environmental, health, safety, Federal and State laws, regulatory and company requirements.
15. Comply with NTG (Nothing Touching the Ground) requirements. Including daily audits.
16. Be active in Operation Clean Sweep, and ensure employees are aware of and accountable for pellet loss prevention, containment, cleanup and disposal.
17. Work outside normal shift hours as needed.
18. Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
19. Perform other duties as assigned.

VI. PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

D. Position requires individual to differentiate colors, depth and perception.
VIII. CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO THIS POSITION
A. Inside environmental conditions protected from weather conditions not necessarily room temperature conditions.
B. Outside environmental conditions, no effective protection from weather.
C. Inside and outside conditions, no effective protection from weather.
D. Subject to extreme cold, temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
E. Subject to extreme heat, temperatures above 100 degrees for periods more than one hour.
F. Subject to noise, causing reason to shout in order to he heard above the noise.
G. Subject to vibration, exposure fluctuating movements of the body
H. Subject to hazards such as moving machinery, electrical currents, falling debris, exposure to chemicals, gases, high heat or explosives.
I. Subject to unregulated atmospheric conditions caused by odors, fumes, gases, poor ventilation, and dust.
J. Subject to oils and other cutting fluids via touch or air.
