Our Mission
Foster Love is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our vision is to improve the lives of children in foster care throughout America who often find themselves forgotten and neglected by the public. We collaborate with community partners to bring resources to youth in foster care and use service-learning activities to educate volunteers on issues surrounding the foster care system. Our foundation has allowed us to provide thousands of foster youth across the country with new bicycles, college supplies, and sweet cases so that children do not have to travel from home to home with their belongings in a trash bag.
The Position
This position is responsible for performing a variety of administrative and direct service tasks related to the Foster Love national trade scholarships: American Industries & BrandSource Scholarships. Coordinator will support the operational management of the trade scholarship programs along with the professional growth and development of the scholarship participants. In addition, the Coordinator will assist with program outreach, scholars selection, fundraising, events coordination, data management, donor engagement, distribution of in-kind donations, and additional tasks dedicated to elevating the scholarship program(s) and championing the success of our scholarship recipients.
The Scholarship Coordinator will support other Foster Love departments, including the Academic Services team, in carrying forward the mission and vision of the organization.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Outreach, recruitment, and selection of scholarship recipients.
- Producing comprehensive academic guidance plans for scholarship recipients that outline a path for successful completion of their trade/major.
- Creating personal growth plans that champion the scholar's growth, maturity, confidence, and professionalism, and using that growth plan to enhance the Coordinators' one-on-one case management with the scholarship recipient.
- Implementing coaching strategies that cultivate success in a professional setting and prepare students for the professional workforce.
- Budget management for the scholarship program as a whole and stewarding the scholarship funds of each student.
- Assist with coordinating supplemental programs and opportunities that promote the success of our students.
- Creating a support network for our students through community, collaboration, and communication
Primary Job Objectives/Goals:
- Providing comprehensive wraparound services that eliminate the student's educational barriers and guarantees the completion of their trade certification/degree.
- Guaranteeing the personal and professional growth of each scholarship recipient through relationship building, workshops, leadership development, and financial literacy.
- Building a community network between scholarship recipients and using this space to build comradery, trust, and the development of their support networks.
- Overseeing program administration: data analysis, grant reporting, sponsorships and donor engagement, program marketing, and events planning related to the American Industries & BrandSource Scholarships.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE & SKILLS/ABILITIES
Job Requirements: (knowledge, abilities, and skills required to complete the job)
- Essential Skills/Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields (required), (Master’s Degree, preferred)
Minimum of 2 years experience/knowledge of the foster care system and/or experience volunteering with youth in foster care (preferred)Program management skills that facilitate growth and program sustainabilityKnowledge of higher education administration, policies, and procedures including financial aid (FAFSA).Experience with proven customer service skills & strong interpersonal relations skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong solution-focused/problem-solving skills, and someone who takes initiative to resolve situations.Expert in office & computer skills: Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office, phone etiquette, office machines, etc., and ability to adapt to modern operational software and technology (Asana, Slack, CRM management, etc.)

HOURS / SHIFTS
Full Time - Monday - Friday - 7am-3:30pm (PST)

Ability to work weekends and holidays, based on need. Must be available to travel for specific events throughout the year; 25% travel expectations.
