Purpose:
The Business Development Manager is directly responsible for strategic planning, sales management, and prospecting for new clients to help grow the organization.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform research and generate leads for potential customers and new opportunities.
- Identify, develop, and maintain professional relationships with prospective and new clients.
- Negotiate and close agreements with customers.
- Monitor and analyze performance metrics and suggest improvements.
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies.
- Continuously meet or exceed projected sales targets.
- Establishes sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and territories, and projecting expected sales.
- Keeping up with the latest industry developments and trends to target various markets.
- Maintains detailed records and prepares communications and reports as needed.
- Interacts professionally on a regular basis with staff, vendors, and the general public.
- Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed.
Education, Training, and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of sales manager experience in an increasingly expanded role.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the use of the internet.
- Developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret reports and business correspondence for a diverse audience.
- Ability to organize work, engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously, and consistently meet deadlines.
- High degree of initiative and independent judgment.
- Ability to express self effectively and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to demonstrate a high attention to detail and good follow-up skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and solution-focused.
- Ability to tactfully and effectively deal with the public and staff in a personable and professional manner.
- Maintains a high level of energy and a consistent positive attitude.
