What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse position at Franciscan Health?
WHAT WE NEED
The Registered Nurse Cardiology is responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients including assessment, treatment, care planning, medical care evaluation, and education by following established standards and practices. The RN in Cardiology is expected to exhibit an elevated level of decision-making and provides educational and clinical support for patients and other support staff.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Provide direct patient care, which may include rooming patients, taking vitals, obtaining a comprehensive medical history, administering vaccines, injections, and medications, phlebotomy, point of care testing, medication reconciliation, starting IVs, triage, assisting with procedures, and conducting rounds with providers.
Provide service to those we are privileged to serve, internal and external, via phone, electronic and in person.
Apply written and verbal communication skills on multiple levels as well as analysis and critical thinking to support provider.
Educate patients, families, and caregivers on diagnosis, medications, procedures, treatment plan and chronic care management.
Enter patient information into the electronic health record (EHR) system. Uses EHR and other software systems for referrals, prior authorizations, medication research, and other duties.
Initiate and follow through on prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills.
Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
Assign common laboratory testing associated with cardiac illness
Acknowledge common cardiac disease and symptoms and testing thresholds
Coordinate cardiac catheterizations and pacemaker implants and other invasive procedures
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
Registered Nurse License required
Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Associate degree in nursing required; bachelor’s preferred
1 year experience in critical care, inpatient or ambulatory cardiology environment required
Advanced knowledge of the cardiovascular system anatomy and physiology
Adapt and respond quickly to changing priorities
Basic understanding of common cardiology diagnostic testing
Qualifications
- Required Associate's Degree
- Preferred Bachelor's Degree
- 1 year Critical care, inpatient or ambulatory cardiology environment. Required
