What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gemologist position at Frank Darling?
Frank Darling is a rapidly expanding Fine Jewelry brand that specializes in custom engagement rings. We have a large online presence as well as in-person showrooms located in NY and SF. We are looking for another GIA Graduate Gemologist to join our growing team. This position requires an efficient and detail-oriented candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Efficiently sourcing diamonds and gemstones for customers via online databases and supplier outreach.
- Processing inbound diamond shipments from NY.
- Processing outbound diamond shipments to NYC.
- Coordinating with NYC gemology team for SF shipmetns.
- Properly entering data into inventory and keeping track of stones in-office.
- Fostering current supplier relationships and reaching out to potential new suppliers.
- Working closely with the sales team and production team to ensure best client experience.
- Negotiating and calculating diamond and gemstone pricing.
- Taking photos of diamonds for both the sales team and customers.
Requirements and Experience:
- Ability to operate standard gemological instruments (loupe, inscription reader).
- Proper diamond and gemstone vocabulary.
- Ability to identify and distinguish different gemstones.
- Familiar with the Rapaport Diamond Report and diamond pricing.
- Team-oriented and able to get along with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to communicate professionally, multi-task, and solve problems.
- Familiar with both lab and natural diamonds.
- Ability to read and understand diamond and gemstone certificates from various labs.
- Proficient computer skills (excel, online search databases)

- Office hours are 10AM to 6PM Monday - Friday
