Summary :
The Defense Specialist reviews due diligence audits, whole loan sales, post funding requests, and special audits for the organization.
This position will collaborate proper investor to defend Freedom Mortgage against any allocations cited by the investor.
This requires verbal and written communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities :
Review / Maintain reports / respond on due diligence audits / whole loan purchases sale of Conv / FHA / VA Loans, work closely with Compliance on issues
Provides defense on due diligence issues when received by investors, warehouse lines, etc.
Assist in providing any missing documentation to all investors on post funding requests
Assist manager in monitoring trends from all requests received by the Defense Team. Must have knowledge to determine any critical concerns that must be brought to Executive Management and / or National training division
This position is crossed trained to perform duties of the Defense Coordinator and Defense Lead
To work directly with all investors to work to cure issues of concern and provide clarification if necessary to management and the branches
Determine the accuracy of the deficiency sited and determine if a cure can be provided to rescind any concerns
Communicate with Management and branch on any issues that arise that cannot be cured. Work with Management on any further actions taken.
Assist VP Agency Defense to monitor and work with Freedom Refinance Team on loans that can be refinanced and cannot be cured.
Assist Defense Lead in any recovery efforts with correspondents and brokers if necessary
Assist team reviewing EPD / FPD / AOI / Correspondent loans to determine Material concerns. Report any loans to Special Investigator.
Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Qualifications :
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.
Must have a strong working knowledge of all areas of Conv, FHA and VA Manuals, including internal and external guidelines, announcements, and Mortgagee Letters in today’s Mortgage Lending environment.
They also must be proficient in Word and Excel.
This person also must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and work with direct management
Employee must be able to accept change easily
Must work in an organized, independent, efficient, professional process is a must.
Education and / or Experience :
Bachelor’s Degree from a Four (4) year College or University
Minimum of 6 years of experience in Mortgage Banking
Experience must include, but not limited to, extensive knowledge in mortgage loan processing, underwriting, closing, post closing, and routine compliance.
