Summary
Manage and motivate AR team. Provide expertise and guidance to department supervisors to reach the company’s receivable balance objectives. Design and implement efficient work processes utilizing all capabilities of the company’s SAP system. Improve utilization of technology and automation.
This position will support our Finance team. It is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, generally requiring work in-office 2-3 days per week. The ideal candidate will be located in Dallas, TX.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Supervisory:
Supervise the activities of a group of associates within the AR department. Lead assigned personnel (approx. 5-10 staff) to provide high quality service to external and internal customers in accordance with Freeman’s service vision: “Do it right. First time. Every time.”
Hire, train, mentor, appraise performance and discipline assigned staff and accomplish defined goals. Raise the level of professional skill and knowledge within the department through staff training, motivation, performance evaluation, discipline, goal setting, tracking and accomplishment.
Manage the team with creative and service-oriented problem resolution, professional and technical knowledge and guidance, long term planning and result oriented performance management.
Oversee the workload distribution, prioritization, and solicitation.
Create and maintain the department’s report library for monthly, annual and ad-hoc data. Meet performance metrics, OKR, SLA and analyze results for corrective actions. Draw and drive conclusions from the results.
Miscellaneous:
Establish and maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and other business units within the company.
Explore and develop SAP capabilities and introduce into existing work processes.
Audit all quires prior to acting.
Education & Experience
College degree in accounting, finance or general business, may be substituted with successful track record of at least ten years directly related work experience
Five years of titled supervisory/manager experience
Ten years credit and collection experience on commercial accounts, including five years on strategic corporate accounts
Knowledge of performance data calculations like DSO, DBT, loss ratio, past due percentages. Ability to calculate turnover and percentages
Extensive knowledge of payment methods, banking systems and cash application
Thorough understanding of accounts receivable related accounting, co-relations with revenue and cash-flow
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of customer contacts, sales personnel, colleges, vendors and lawyers. A high degree of diplomacy, detail orientation and accuracy are required in daily work and interaction
Assertive self starter and quick learner with ability to work independently
Successful negotiation skills
Experience in Microsoft Excel, Word. Working knowledge of Power Point, Adobe Acrobat
At least five years’ experience with ERP systems like: SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Lawson, Peoplesoft or similar. In-depth SAP experience highly desired
