Quality Department Manager
- Manage the established Food Safety program, deliver continuous improvements and change as needed.
- Manage the QA and HACCP departments & personnel.
- Lead the company’s Food Safety Programs as they relate to the Global Food Safety Initiative ISO 22000.
- Develop and maintain Ready to Eat (RTE) program for the facility. Help bring online a new process that involves RTE product and establish criteria to ensure adequate Food Safety, Quality, and Regulatory standards are met for this new product.
- Prepare and lead all audits, including ISO 22000, Halal, EV, Welfare and customer-initiated audits.
- Develop team members’ technical and professional skill-set through mentoring and training.
- Oversee Internal Audits have been completed.
- Oversee lab send outs to the off-site lab. Ensure facility testing requirements meet relevant food safety and regulatory standards.
- Prepares food quality reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
- Review customer and supplier specifications, making sure they comply with all programs.
- Establishes food safety program by developing ingredient control and storage policies including purchasing specifications, incoming inspection procedures, equipment cleaning and sanitation procedures and schedules, personnel sanitation procedures and training.
- Develops food safety plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures.
- Maintains food quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal regulations by studying existing and new regulations; anticipating regulations; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed action.
- Ongoing maintenance including documentation and recordkeeping of the Food Safety Systems including HACCP plans, Quality plans, and prerequisite programs.
- Annual review and revise Product Safety & Quality Policies and Procedures.
- Interpret and implement changes to regulations and GFSI compliance requirements.
- Establish goals and objectives.
- Support plant programs including, safety, sustainability, efficiencies and employee relationships.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- HACCP certified with working knowledge of HACCP.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science or related discipline, or equal amount of relatable experience
- Ready to Eat (RTE) knowledge and experience preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety procedures/systems (GFSI, specifically FSSC 22000) preferred, but BRC or SQF are acceptable.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Knowledge of auditing procedures.
- Excellent attendance is required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
