Job Overview
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Sanitation Associate is responsible for proper cleaning and sanitation of production equipment and surrounding production areas. Sanitation is completed nightly to prevent contamination of food and food products, ensuring food is produced under safe, sanitary and regulated conditions.
Primary Duties / Essential Functions:
· Know and practice proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
· Frequently inspect cleaning and sanitizing equipment for optimum performance
· Utilize cleaning chemicals and equipment in a safe manner
· Complete mechanical disassembly and reassembly of production equipment
· Perform proper cleaning of all equipment and food contact surfaces
· Remove waste material from floors and drains
· Properly store all cleaning equipment, hoses, tools and sanitizing chemicals
· Maintain separate sanitation areas and equipment for RAW and RTE departments
· Contribute to the team effort by working with other associates and following production policies and procedures
· Maintain awareness of and compliance with OSHA, USDA and other governmental agencies
· Sustain a constant sense of urgency and high employee morale
· Be constantly aware of expense control and cost savings
· Keep the Sanitation Supervisor informed on a timely basis of anything that could affect the performance of the Sanitation department and FQM
· Participate in training or continuing education programs to enhance industry knowledge and techniques
· Project a positive attitude and protect Frick’s Quality Meats, Inc. image of honesty, integrity, and fairness
· Ability to work overtime as required by production needs
· Other duties as may be assigned by Supervisor
Workplace Requirements:
· Stand: Must be able to remain standing for entire shift
· Walk: Needs to occasionally move about inside the facilities to access machinery and clean throughout plant
· Exposure to work: Constantly works in cool, 45-degree rooms, and damp/wet conditions
· Carry weight, lift: Occasionally lifts materials weighing up to 60 pounds overhead
· Twisting, turning and bending: Frequently conducts these motions to complete sanitation of facility
· Use hands/fingers to handle or feel: Constantly utilizes cleaning and other sanitation equipment
· Climb or balance: Occasionally ascends/descends stairs and ladders to clean production machinery
· Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl: Constantly positions self to properly sanitize production equipment and other areas in facility
· Talk/hear: Frequently communicates with co-workers and supervisor(s) regarding sanitation requirements; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations, exposed to loud sounds
· See: Must be able to identify defects and inspect equipment and areas for cleanliness. Exposure to bright lighting
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
Experience:
Sanitation or cleaning experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Reliability or history of good attendance (2 absences or less) and must maintain good attendance.
