Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 8am-4:30pm
Summary:
Performs surgical scheduling and clerical duties while functioning as an integral communication link for the nursing team, physicians and clinics. Accountable for follow up with clinics and service coordinators. Accurately assigns surgical cases to available time slots by working within guidelines. Aligns with OR service coordinators to ensure proper equipment, procedure time, and staff needs. Serves as a liaison with specialty clinics and physicians for correct surgical case scheduling by analyzing proper case needs. Identifies and escalates surgical case discrepancies using decision making based on block time and open scheduling opportunities. Creates the daily operating room schedule including but not limited to: accuracy of patient demographics, pre-certification, time allotted for procedure and patient admission status. Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
A minimum of 3 years previous clerical and surgery scheduling system experience is required. High School diploma or equivalent is required. Knowledge of medical terminology. Professional written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Typing 45-60 wpm. Ability to identify critical issues and exercise independent judgment. Demonstrated detail orientation with the ability to analyze, problem solve organize and manage multiple priorities. Excellent follow up skills a must. Proficiency in Word and Excel programs, Microsoft Office systems. Critical thinking skills.
