SUMMARY:
The Fulfill team is dedicated to building community awareness and creating an efficient food distribution network to eliminate hunger in the community. Resources are leveraged in a manner that is strategic and cost effective in order to achieve Fulfill’s mission and goals.
A dynamic, articulate individual is needed to enthusiastically engage public officials, community organizations, businesses, and associations to increase awareness and support of Fulfill’s mission through volunteer opportunities, food and fund drives, collaboration, and other community engagement opportunities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Community Engagement Specialist:
- Manages the Volunteer program, including:
- Leveraging volunteer opportunities to uncover potential donor opportunities
- Utilizing a volunteer recruitment plan that identifies needs for Fulfill and partner agencies, strengthening the pipeline of volunteers with diversified skill sets
- Managing group and individual volunteer relationships
- Training and empowering all Fulfill departments to manage their own volunteers to broaden the engagement of both volunteers and staff
- Training of volunteers to include regularly scheduled orientations at both Fulfill locations, encouraging the utilization of volunteer control through the Volunteer Information Center portal, working with Fulfill departments to coordinate specific trainings, as needed
- Preparing regular reports to assess trends, document service, develop recruitment and retention strategies, and evaluate jobs and opportunities
- Developing and maintaining reward, recognition and incentive programs for volunteers
- Collaborating with department managers and directors to identify additional volunteer opportunities
- Engages and cultivates corporate groups that volunteer and/or run food drives to identify additional donor opportunities – works in collaboration with Development colleagues to create strategies for further engagement;
- Builds strong relationships with community organizations, businesses, associations, and other key stakeholder constituencies
- Identifies and participates in community forums for increasing awareness of Fulfill’s programs and needs
- Network and represent Fulfill and the interests of those we serve at community events and other forums where key stakeholders and partners are present
- Seek information and share knowledge of community needs, upcoming events, status of priorities and other information that affects organizational goals
- Schedules and conducts tours, meetings, and seminars with key stakeholders, including public officials, community groups, businesses organizations, etc., coordinating and engaging Fulfill leadership, as necessary
- Maintains current distribution lists of public officials serving Monmouth and Ocean Counties
- Embraces and proficiently communicates the mission and vision of Fulfill
- Manages the Food Drive program to include:
- Developing, maintaining, and cultivating relationships with businesses, organizations, associations, schools, public officials, and individuals conducting food drives
- Coordination of logistics planning in conjunction with the Operations team
- Working in collaboration with the Network Engagement Team and Operations, coordinates all aspects of food drives and off-site volunteer packing projects
- Recruits and recognizes food drive partners
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree
- Skilled communicator with strong public speaking, presentation and writing skills
- Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to work across departments and with diverse stakeholder groups
- Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to coordinate multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
- At least 2-3 years of experience in volunteer recruitment and management
- Fluency in Spanish and the ability to translate written work to Spanish a plus
- Flexible work schedule to involve some nights and weekends
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Volgistics volunteer software and Microsoft Publisher a plus
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required for nights and weekend events
