Note: Must be available to work weekends. Our facility is not on a bus line. The company operates 3 shifts, 7 days per week, 8-10 hours days. Normally a 5 day workweek with overtime requirements. Days of week are subject to change due to sanitation rotation cleaning schedule, to meet business cleanliness demands.



Job Description

This position is responsible for general sanitation work. Sanitation cleans up after production shifts by breaking down the production equipment, scrub, scrape, wash, and sanitize. This position will work on call as needed for emergencies and perform principal responsibilities of sanitation with primary responsibility to assigned department. The Sanitation Worker sanitizes all equipment in the plant in compliance with customer specifications and with company policy and procedures related to proper sanitation, CGMP and Safety requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Perform tasks associated with general sanitation – to include: scrub, scrape, foam and wash equipment to perfect sanitary condition
  • Break down production equipment
  • Prepare machinery for next shift
  • Keep plant trash removed on a timely basis
  • Report and resolve food safety issues
  • Be aware of your surroundings and floors may be slippery
  • Follow sanitation dress code standards and maintains good personal hygiene
  • Follow sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs)
  • Perform assignments in accordance with established CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) policies and procedures
  • Perform scheduled tasks on the Master Sanitation Schedule
  • Able to learn how to clean and sanitize equipment, pans, racks, molds, utensils, etc.
  • Sweep, mop, clean, and sanitize floors
  • Able to learn how to operate floor scrubbing equipment and pressure washer
  • Participate in ongoing training sessions for the Sanitation Department
  • Mandatory participation in weekly deep-cleaning operations to ensure plant is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized
  • Maintain clean outside grounds and office areas
  • Clean and sanitize employee restrooms and breakroom
  • Clean and sanitize freezers and ovens
  • Perform all work assignments for position in accordance with specifications, instructions, and requirements
  • Demonstrate good verbal communication skills
  • Understand the management of Quality Systems and is familiar with AIB, SQF, FDA, HACCP, and CGMP practices which help ensure the safety within the workplace and the production of a safe and quality product(s)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
  • Food related certifications or experience a plus
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing setting is preferred but not required, in-house training is provided in the form of Orientation New Hire Training and on the job hands-on training and development.
  • Must be able to handle multiple assignments at once.
  • Must be able to perform in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Can demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision effectively
Physical Requirements & Work Environment : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, heat and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Enter and work within temperature controlled environments of -10 to 85 degrees. Some assignments may involve exposure to noise, chemicals, biohazards, and various forms of radiation. Some assignments could be extremely dangerous in the event of dizziness, loss of consciousness, or loss of balance. Working conditions are normal for a plant manufacturing food. Food safety practices are followed and upheld to the full extent. Work will involve lifting of raw materials, finished cases of bread, and ingredients. All employees will be required to wear a slip resistant safety steel toe shoe.
