Direct Hire opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in Rockford, IL.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge - A full knowledge of payroll procedures and processing is essential. Understanding of Human Resources laws and practices and strong computer knowledge including Microsoft Office products such as Word and Excel. Solid understanding of and experience in, major functional areas of HR. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Strong organizational skills, accuracy in work, and attention to detail. Must have proven customer service orientation. Ability to multi-task and handle a fast-paced environment. Experience with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) desirable. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all documentation and discussions. Must be self-driven and a strong team player.
Problem Solving - Ability to evaluate situations and establish effective courses of action by utilizing various resources and input with minimal supervision.
Communication – Effectively and professionally represent company. Maintain positive business relations with all locations, managers, employees and visitors.
Initiative - Ability to work independently, be self-sufficient and demonstrate the ability and desire to pursue and fulfill the needs of the Human Resources Department. Able to make strong educated decisions in the absence of HR Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Accurately prepare bi-weekly payroll and input data changes in an efficient and timely manner. Process payroll in absence of Controller.
Calculate and determine employee eligibility for all benefits, including holiday and vacation pay
Maintain and process personnel files (New Hires, Terminations, Change Forms, Performance Reviews, etc), both hard copy and electronic.
Support 401(k) administration, to include submission of files to provider.
Assist in coordination of training enrollment.
Maintain the HRIS systems including generating related reports for submission to various agencies.
Help in maintaining HR webpage on an as needed basis.
Be available to answer questions regarding paychecks, benefits, deductions, taxes withheld, and employment/financial verifications.
Contribute to the satisfaction of employees by ensuring the confidentiality of employee matters and visitors.
Assist the HR Manager with any necessary projects as needed.
