This is a highly confidential responsible single person accounting position within the primary and supportive companies with G. Stephens, Inc. The incumbent is responsible for general accounting, payroll, bookkeeping, and general office administration.
Supervision Received:
The incumbent receives direct oral and written supervision from the company President and Payroll/Bookkeeping Specialist. Monthly, weekly and daily tasks are assigned to monitor financial progress of company operations and project progress. Work is to be completed independently. A range of latitude is extended to the incumbent within the company’s structure, to ensure financial soundness is maintained at all times. All final decisions must be approved by the President. All financial documents are to be prepared using QuickBooks Pro, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounting Clerk to complete:
- Accounts Receivable
- Accounts Payable
- Collections
- Company Certifications as DBE/MBE & Contractors Licenses
- Support to Payroll when needed
- Preparation of Monthly Invoices
- Receive & Address Vendors Accounting Telephone Calls
- Open and Distribute Mail
- Schedule & pay for employee approved classes
- Insurance Certification
- Inventory
- Issue Purchase Orders
- Maintain Various Logs Tracking Projects and Costs
- Manage and Reconcile Companies Checking Account’s
- Order Accounting Supplies i.e. Checks, Postage
- Assist with Answering Telephones
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- GAP – General Accounting Practices
- Business Financial Statements
- Quickbooks, Paycor and Foundation System
- Ability to develop financial plans and make clear interpretation of financial information.
- Ability to plan and organize works, analyze facts and exercise judgment in making decisions.
- Ability to project a positive company image in oral and written communications with outside organizations and companies.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- General knowledge of PC’s, including software programs Excel, Microsoft Word, QuickBooks Pro, or similar applications.
- Ability to work harmoniously with others.
Education
- Desirable: Completion of Associates/Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related Degree.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in the handling construction finances.
Suggested Training and Experience:
- The nature of work involved in this position requires prior work experience in the Accounting and Financial Industry.
