TCPalm's chief visuals journalist leads the photo and video department as well as the overall visuals strategy for the newsroom. This hybrid position allows flexibility to coordinate visuals on digital and print platforms as well as shoot photos and video alongside colleagues. To do this, the ideal candidate must have expertise and a proven track record with the following:

* Communication and collaboration with editors, reporters and colleagues
* Excellent planning, coordinating and multitasking skills
* Superior prioritization and flexibility to change when the news or industry demands it
* Strong idea generation and execution
* Ability to work on their own and make decisions
* Good news judgement and understanding of local issues
* Being innovative and boldly trying new things
* Foster a culture of greatness and strong leadership
* Attention to detail

This journalist must create strong working relationships with all local newsroom departments, including making visuals a priority during any planned coverage. As a leader, this person must continually elevate the visuals quality and overall visuals journalists by setting high expectations and challenging the mundane. This person also should find opportunities for visuals to contribute to a high priority goal of increasing and retaining digital subscribers as well as digital audience growth.

Planning is key to this role, especially with upcoming photo/video requests and community events. It's important for this person to make connections in the community, interact with readers by increasing engagement on social media and have a passion for letting people know what is going on in and around our communities.
