Behavioral Characteristics
1) Teamwork and Safety is our highest priority; Your place on a team affects how others do their jobs. We rely on all of our employees to be responsible with equipment and materials and respectful of others, including staff and clients time. Clients trust us with their privacy and with their property. Much of our work is time sensitive and requires a sense of urgency to get the job done in a timely manner. If you are someone who shows up late, needs extra time at lunch or needs to make a lot of personal phone calls at work, this job is not for you. We live and die on our integrity and we have built a team that cares from the deepest place in their heart about the work we do. If that is who you are, then keep reading.
2) Does learning about new gardening techniques and the environment seem thrilling to you? If not, this position is not for you. We are seeking folks who will work hard to learn the names of plants and techniques of caring for them, even reading outside of work or taking advantage of on-line seminars and other educational opportunities for the sake of becoming a skilled practitioner of the art and science of landscaping. Is rolling up your sleeves and diving into a project exciting to you? Do you have a demonstrated history of working with nature in your professional or personal life? Can you speak clearly about where you are knowledgeable and where you are not? If you answered yes to those questions, then keep reading.
3) Can you ignore some physical discomfort in order to partake in the creation of a project, or to you shrink at the first sign of raindrops? Do you love to tackle something you have never done before or does fear of failure prevent you from stepping up and embracing the unknown? Our experienced staff can help you to learn many plant names and gardening techniques but only if you realize that you don’t already know everything and have the humility to ask questions. Who are you?
Are you driven by taking on a challenge and conquering it? If so, keep reading.
4) There is an “I” in team and it is called ‘Individual Performance.' Spectacular teams are accountable to each other, able to perform their individual tasks and responsibilities, collaborate as needed, and accept feedback as a way to improve not a personal affront. Is that you? Do you have a combination of pride of ownership in your work AND the ability to accept constructive feedback without your ego being bruised?
If so, we want to speak with you so keep on reading.
5) We are building a team of genuinely nice people with big hearts who care about what they do, who we serve every day, and the team they work alongside . We are a tapestry of personalities, talents, and experiences who are all on a journey together. Is that something you want to be a part of, or are you just looking for a job?
Required Skills and Experiences
1) We rely on digital information to get the job done right from proposal to invoicing.
We use a time tracking app for your phone which links to your payroll information and to our billing software. A successful candidate will be able to download and learn and use simple digital programs for time tracking.
2) We are a seasonal, outdoor business and can only do our work when weather permits. That means we are forced into a flexible schedule sometimes due to weather challenges. But we believe that the feeling of getting a job finished just before the rain makes it worth the trouble. If you are afraid to get wet or not physically fit, this job is not for you.
3) The successful candidate can lift 40 lbs., can climb a 6’ ladder, has no fear of light rain and prefers the joy of teamwork to working alone. Employees drive company trucks, so a clean driving license is essential.
