Position Description
Gardner-Webb University seeks a qualified, broadly trained individual to fill this tenure-track faculty position in the area of human services at the Assistant Professor level within the Department of Public Service (DPS) at the main campus in Boiling Springs, North Carolina to begin in August, 2024. Teaching responsibilities will include both introductory and advanced courses in the Human Services Bachelor of Science Degree program. The successful candidate is expected to provide leadership in support of the Human Services program.
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must hold a terminal degree (PhD, DPA, EdD) in human services, social work, public administration, public management, counseling or organizational leadership, or a related discipline.
- Traditional or Graduate level teaching and mentoring experience with a record of established rapport with students. Teaching experience in this discipline is preferred.
- The candidate must be willing to conduct research in the Human Services field or related discipline and publish research with colleagues or graduate students. Professional development is an expectation.
- Demonstrated commitment to community outreach and engagement, as is expected of faculty at GWU.
- A track record that demonstrates exceptional organization, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal relations and the ability to effectively manage undergraduate programs.
- Assist with the coordination of the Human Services Bachelor’s degree program, including coordinating and supervising of human services internships and capstone courses.
- A deep commitment to diversity and inclusion demonstrated through pedagogy, research, and/or public engagement is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrated commitment to Christian Higher Education.
- Teach at the undergraduate and graduate level which will include introductory courses and advanced courses in the field of Human Services, Public Administration, or Non-Profit Administration.
- Provide leadership, guidance and supervision to students in undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Promote good governance and the advancement of the Human Services Bachelor of Science major and minor.
- Contribute to the on-going accreditation, assessment, and evaluation processes.
- Participate in faculty committees and business of the university as requested.
- Attend monthly department, college, and university faculty meetings.
- Participate in the recruitment of students through university sponsored events.
- Establish relationships with community partners and human services agencies.
