Primary Purpose of Position:This position is an assistant to Safety Coordinator, to learn safety in the fuel transportation field. This position will follow the rules and regulations that are required by the D.O.T, OSHA and EPA. Most of the day-to-day tasks will be maintenance of driver files, ELD & logs, processing and updating driver information as it changes and pulling dated expiration reports. Safety covers all divisions; Fuel, Lube, Maintenance, Service and Office personnel. Hazmat is at the forefront of Safety. Being proficient in Hazmat records is key. Gate Fuel Service is a drug and alcohol – free workplace. Essential FunctionsTechnician Responsibilities:· Auditing logs- Learn process and report driver errors to Safety Coordinator· Being efficient in knowing the domiciles and employees and equipment in that domicile· Know the process of setting up appointments of physicals and drug testing. Learn locations· Know when to use the different drug testing forms. Make sure that the correct one is used· Know the process and participate in hiring of drivers – doing research and applying a timeline· Able to set up newly hired employees with PPE and individual equipment, including monthly dispersing of petroleum gloves bi-monthly· Track employee anniversary, birth dates and years of service for issue of cards, uniforms & awards. · Able to track stock and inventory· Involved in property inspection. Learn and adhere to requirements of municipality and state guidelines· Periodically Check Safety Equipment and check Permit books in all vehicles. Set up process and quarterly intervals· Attain current accurate equipment mileages, twice a month, and enter into software to update PM Schedule· Enter data into equipment software to track PMs and Inspections. Disperse written copies to Maintenance dept. While most of the Safety Assistant’s job is in in office environment, there could be tasks, which would take you outside.
