JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW
Working under the direction of the Director of Special Projects and Chief Philanthropy Officer, this individual will collaborate with various internal stakeholders to research, prepare, submit, and track grant proposals to Federal, state, local, and private funding agencies. This individual will be expected to develop and maintain knowledge of substance use disorder treatment, Gaudenzia’s full continuum of treatment and recovery support services, and craft compelling proposals that advance the agency’s mission and strategic priorities. The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong attention to detail.
Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Establish and maintain positive and professional working relationships with diverse internal stakeholder groups.
- Write, edit, and submit grant proposals by the required deadline, with particular attention paid to ensuring completeness against grant instructions, grammar, and style.
- Attend pre-bidder’s conferences, draft proposal summaries for review by organizational leadership, and schedule and attend proposal planning meetings with relevant internal stakeholders, including but not limited to regional and/ or executive leadership, accounting, and philanthropy team members.
- Support the development of goals, outcomes, and evaluation metrics by which the success of grant proposals will be measured.
- Maintain accurate repository and database of grants submitted and received on agency’s SharePoint site.
- Conduct follow-up with funding sources on award status, as needed.
- Understand the history, programs, outcomes, and financial needs of the agency and each region.
- Perform public and private prospect research to identify opportunities that support or advance the agency’s mission and strategic priorities.
- Research and remain current on evidence-based and best practices for treating substance use disorder and current trends.
- Leverage existing agency data to establish a need and develop cases for support.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with effective business, technical, and persuasive writing styles
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong research skills with ability to analyze, synthesize, and present information from different sources concisely and compellingly
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams across the organization, as well as communicate efforts effectively
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects and produce high quality work against a deadline
- Ability to handle confidential matters with utmost integrity
- Ability to work in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proficiency with grants databases and prospect research tools
- Knowledge of behavioral health and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and program development, including ASAM levels of care and evidence-based practices for the treatment of SUD and co-occurring disorders
- Knowledge of and experience with successful proposal development
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training: A Bachelor’s Degree in English, Creative Writing, or a related field required
Experience: At least two years of experience in proposal writing or editing in a similar industry
