Job Summary:New GNs and GPNs are supported throughout their transition from academia to practice with a 12 month Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program TM. During the 12 month residency program, Nurse Residents will gather monthly for seminars to develop clinical and leadership skills. Nurse Residents will take part in a comprehensive orientation and will receive ongoing support and mentorship.
GN:
The Graduate Nurse (GN) provides compassionate and culturally competent patient care, ensuring diversity, equity, and inclusivity in all aspects of nursing practice. GNs assess patient needs, develop care plans, administer treatments, educate patients and support people, and work collaboratively with healthcare teams under the direction of the registered nurse to promote patient well-being and optimal recovery.
GPN:
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), the Graduate Practical Nurse (GPN) provides compassionate and culturally competent patient care, ensuring diversity, equity, and inclusivity in all aspects of nursing practice. Participate in developing care plans, administering treatments, and educating patients and support persons. They work collaboratively with healthcare teams to promote patient well-being and optimal recovery.
Qualifications:
- Pending Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Pending 90-day provisional nursing license granted by the state of CT.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) BLS certification required
WORK SCHEDULE:24 - 32 hours, varied shifts, including every other weekend and holiday

Milne Units: Step down/progressive care unit of level of care includes:
- Continuous telemetry monitoring
- Ventilator support and weaning
- LVAD patient population
- Heart Transplant population
Lyman 1 & Hooker 1: Medical Units offer skills such as:
- Stroke
- Complex wounds
- Telemetry
- Pulmonary care
Lyman 2 & Hooker 2: Specialty Units are CARF Accredited with a focused patient population:
- Traumatic Brain Injury
- Stroke
- Spinal cord Injury
