What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graduate Nurse- 32 hours/Days position at Gaylord Specialty Healthcare?
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Graduate Nurse (GN) utilizes the nursing process to provide physical, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual dimensions of care to patients and their families, including educational and discharge needs. With an average length of stay 25-30 days, the GN is able to develop strong relationships with our patients and play a critical role in their recovery. GN’s at Gaylord Hospital are able to begin their orientation in preparation of becoming an RN and prior to taking the NCLEX exam.
- Pending Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Pending 90-day provisional nursing license granted by the state of CT.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) BLS certification required
WORK SCHEDULE: 32 hours/week, day shift (7:00am-3:30pm), every other weekend/holiday rotation

Milne Units: Step down/progressive care unit of level of care includes:
- Continuous telemetry monitoring
- Ventilator support and weaning
- LVAD patient population
- Heart Transplant population
Lyman 1 & Hooker 1: Medical Units offer skills such as:
- Stroke
- Complex wounds
- Telemetry
- Pulmonary care
Lyman 2 & Hooker 2: Specialty Units are CARF Accredited with a focused patient population:
- Traumatic Brain Injury
- Stroke
- Spinal cord Injury
