The Engineering On-Site Technician will utilize acquired job skills, company policies, and procedures to solve problems and test the capabilities of jet engine components is responsible for the execution of standard operational/technical tasks associated with maintaining the airworthiness of an aircraft engine at the Customer facility. Candidate must be capable to adjust priorities to complete task/duties based on changing work situations. These activities contribute to the maintenance, repair and refurbishment of new uncertified engines undergoing flight test at the customer facility. Candidate will join a team of experienced engineers and mechanics working on the state-of-the-art brand-new Advanced Turboprop GE Catalyst. The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of safety, acceptability and engineering requirements. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities
- Job location is in Wichita, KS
- With little guidance from other GE employees (Manager, Team Lead, Specialist) be proficient at troubleshooting, assembly, disassembly and performing visual inspections with borescope equipment.
- Support and perform work in compliance to all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, policies and regulations; have the willingness to stop work when an unsafe condition arises, have a proactive attitude towards creating a safe work environment built around LEAN principles (clean as you go mentality, 5S, etc.)
- Work on assignments that are assigned to area, identify issues or problems with equipment, processes and/or products.
- Communicate work product to the appropriate persons.
- Assist the Team Leader or manager in planning and scheduling of preventive maintenance activities.
- Serves as part of the technical staff responsible for maintaining the airworthiness of an uncertified engine undergoing flight test.
- Supports and enables test plans for engine and aircraft certification
- Provides technical feedback and interface with Product Support, Product Engineering, Field Service Engineering, Suppliers, and GE’s direct customer.
- Basic understanding of Jet Engines and flight test environment; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
- Develops good customer relationships. Explains technical information to others. A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to train and lead junior members of the team and/or customer staff.
- Manages spares through receiving, storage and shipment process to ensure that program is ready to support aircraft flight test.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or a high school diploma with relevant experience with at least 4 years of experience in the repair or maintenance or manufacturing of Aircraft Jet Engines.
- This role requires advanced experience in the execution of standard operational and technical tasks of maintaining and servicing Jet Engines.
- A&P License.
- Capable of working Flexible Work hours, including partial shifts into the night in order to maintain engine airworthiness.
- Ability to travel including international to support off-site aircraft deployment and training.
Desired Characteristics
- Strong familiarization with engine in the Aircraft Turboprop Market including GE Engines and its competitors, specific experience on GE Catalyst engine will be considered a plus.
- Strong familiarization with aircraft engine tools and maintenance practices.
- Strong familiarization with the usage of Aviation Manuals such as Line Maintenance Manual, Installation Instructions and procedures.
- Experience with the use of Aircraft Engine Borescope equipment.
- Experience with working directly with customer and/or customer support experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
