Job Posting for Quality Control Analyst Sr at General Dynamics Electric Boat
Overview
This position supports submarine maintenance within Special Emphasis Programs (such as SUBSAFE and Scope of Certification) by performing prescribed duties as a Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor at Naval Submarine Support Facility (NSSF) under the New England Maintenance Manpower Initiative (NEMMI) contract.
QA Supervisors perform detailed, independent reviews of submarine maintenance plans to ensure that all technical requirements are met and all required testing is identified and accomplished. They train and advise QA Inspectors and Controlled Material Handlers, conduct audits and surveillances, maintain QA records and files and perform other duties as assigned by the QA Officer. QA Supervisors regularly interface with Planners, NEMMI and Navy shop personnel, NSSF leadership as well as submarine crewmembers.
Additionally, this person is responsible for:
Serving as a focal point on quality assurance/test requirements, issues, problems, etc. and providing training on various quality assurance/test matters.
Planning and implementing quality assurance/test audits for various NSSF shops and work centers.
Verify Technical Word Documents and completed work to ensure incorporation of required precise measurements and tests, as well as the proper controls.
The QAS is fully responsible for:
Developing and implementing the plans required to carry out the complex quality assurance/test projects assigned.
Making decisions regarding such things as: determining the adequacy of and completeness of technical data relative to achieving overall quality/test requirements; determining actions necessary to resolve quality assurance related problems encountered during shop production operations; and determining acceptability of waivers/deviations from specifications and requirements.
*This position is for 2nd shift*
Qualifications
Required:
HS diploma or equivalent
Minimum five (5) years of depot level submarine construction, overhaul, or repair experience or equivalent.
Preferred:
Prior Navy QAI or QAS qualification
Formal Navy QA school (QAI, QAO)
Experience using ATIS v1.5
Formal shipyard apprenticeship, Navy training, or Department of Labor equivalent training
Skills
Skills:
Ability to read and understand technical manuals, instructions, military specifications and standards, blueprints, computer-aided drawings, etc.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to follow verbal and written directions.
Proficiency in performing research using both printed and electronic sources. Familiar with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel and Access).
Broad understanding of Navy submarine construction and working knowledge of hull, mechanical, electronic and weapons delivery systems as well as welding processes and non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections.
