Job Description

The Die & Stamping Program Planner is responsible to define die and stamping investment required for vehicles early in the Vehicle Development process. A highly collaborative approach is needed in a dynamic environment of high uncertainty which, nevertheless, demands accurate planning that anticipates concerns and develops proactive plans. Collaborating with numerous domain experts, developing clear strategies, and communicating these plans to ME Body leadership are integral to the function.
  • Develop program investment required for major program gates and special studies.
  • Collaborate with Die MSIE, Die Leads, Strategic Planners of Stamping Allocations, Body MSIE, Manufacturing Integration Managers, Containers and others to gather all required information for Manufacturing Planning Study and ensure coordinated responses.
  • Develop forecast of spending for early program gates.
  • Calculate equivalent headcount and collaborate with Labor on plan for USA programs.
  • Define business case assessments of alternative stamping strategies.
  • Drive team to complete investment definition on the required study timeline, including dies and related costs as well as program-driven stamping plant improvements.
  • Ensure ME Body leadership support for all major investment submittals.
  • Develop cost-book and load-book for Die Lead / IEs.
  • Communicate investment assumptions used for Appropriation Request to support the "cost creep" process.
  • Participate in appropriate forums to represent die and stamping concerns in early phase of vehicle development (e.g. MIT meetings).
  • Build Die Cost Project Investment Summary at the end of each program launch (post-mortem). Work with Die Lead and Integration Engineers to understand key cost drivers.
  • Continuously Improve Toolkit for Die Program Planners. Provide domain expertise. Annually assess investment basis and update cost model in Die Investment Detail spreadsheet.
  • Define and refine standardized work in support of job function.

Qualifications
  • Engineering Degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Dies and/or Stamping.
  • Highly motivated self-starter, adaptable and effective in various working team environments. Teammate who can lead multi-functional groups and has a cross-cultural skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to establish relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple and sophisticated projects with the highest level of autonomy and accountability for results.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proven ability to communicate effectively with leadership at any level.
  • Demonstrated organizational, project management and time management skills and ability to teach others.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity and enable timely, decisive decision making.
  • High level of presentation and networking skills for providing program status, issues, problem resolution and roadblock removal.
  • Capable of using Team Center / NX to assess product and die process attributes from Stamping MBOM.
  • Solid understanding of the Die and Stamping relevant elements in the Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP), including process and product deliverables and interfaces.
  • Deep knowledge of die and stamping engineering for sheet metal parts and major stamping contributors to finished vehicle surface quality and dimensional requirements.
  • Solid understanding of body manufacturing and vehicle assembly processes, including Body Shop, Paint and General Assembly influences.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office software.
  • Comfortable developing strategic initiatives within an often ambiguous, constantly evolving environment.
  • Exercises independent judgment in leading sophisticated and ambiguous tasks with minimal input from supervisor.
  • Proven ability to attain results, while balancing technical solutions with business imperatives.
  • Solid analytical/problem solving skills with capability to identify solutions to unusual and complex problems
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead diverse/multi-functional teams, as well as mentor, empower, and elicit work output from peers and other team members
