What are the responsibilities and job description for the Busser / Barback position at Genesee Brewery?
Sunday - Thursday | 11am-10pm
Friday & Saturday | 11am-11pm
SHIFTS NEEDED:
Opening (11 AM to 4:30 or 5 PM)
Closing (4:30 or 5 PM to 10:30 or 11 PM)
As a Busser, you'll assist the servers and beertenders in all aspects of food and beverage service including watering, food and beverage delivery to tables, clearing the appropriate meal courses, and resetting tables for next seating. The busser will also be responsible for maintaining positive guest relations throughout the guests’ experience.
Candidates should be willing and able to work a flexible schedule that will include evenings, weekends and holidays as business needs dictate.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for delivering orders to the guests’ table or staging area in the dining room/bar area
- Carry food, equipment, or materials safely up stairs and/or using an elevator
- Responsible for welcoming and interacting with guests in a positive and friendly manner
- Provide good judgment of food quality and production and understands the impact of spoilage
- Ensures that food presentation is fresh and up to quality standards
- Replenishes food and other serving items on the serving line as necessary
- Anticipate guests’ needs and assists with directions, event schedules, and other information or assistance as needed
- May pre-bus tables or seat guests
- May do “side work” pertaining to individual craft including but not limited to: cleaning work areas, stocking area, cleaning glassware, fold/roll napkins
- Replenishes supply of clean linens, silverware, glassware, and dishes in dining room
- Responsible for bussing tables, disposing of trash, maintaining the cleanliness of all restaurant areas, transporting dirty dishes to the dish room, assembling guest food orders and/or delivering them to the dining room
- Responsible for cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and disinfecting
- Actively exhibit a commitment to support a diverse and inclusive work environment
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Must be 18 years of age
- Previous dining/table service or hospitality experience preferred
- Ability to operate and use computers and cash register
- Must be committed to being on time and working all shifts
- Excellent communication and listening skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
- Must be able to walk and stand during entire shift
- Must be able to lift and carry racks/stacks of glasses and trays of food weighing up to 30 lbs., up to 50 times per shift
- Must be able to safely climb stairs various times during shift with food tray, bussing bin, and/or drinks
- Must be able to safely transport food, equipment, or materials using elevator
- Must be able to lift and empty trashcans weighing up to 150 lbs. with assistance, up to two times per shift
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and lifting
- Hazards include, but are not limited to: working with broken glass, burns, slipping, and tripping
- Must be able to pass our pre-employment qualifications including: drug test, physical, background checks, and references
