Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Global Equities Business and provides a suite of applications that cover analytics, sales and trading
- Focus on workflow enhancements to enable greater automation, as well as expand our offerings to clients
- Work directly with business users and take full responsibility for delivering change from requirement gathering to production release
- Design clean, simple solutions that fit or improve existing patterns and will stand the test of time
Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills
- In depth understanding of core Java API's (collections, concurrency, NIO etc.)
- Understanding of and experience with multithreaded systems, working knowledge of the Java garbage collector, familiar with low latency I/O
- Understanding of and experience with design patterns (Observer, Factory, Singleton etc.)
- Development practices
- Ability to use test driven development and be familiar with UML and OO design
- Experience with Eclipse or IntelliJ, GIT, continuous build servers and Maven / Gradle
- Ability to work in a multi-faceted role (development with some testing, support and analysis)
- Experience of Order Management, Analytics or Trading Workflow Systems
- Experience working with agile methodologies
- Demonstrable experience of front office system design and architecture
- Business Knowledge - Understanding of equities and/or derivatives markets
- Knowledge of FIX
- Desire to learn and master new approaches, as well as contribute to the improvement of the platform
- University degree in a technical, numerical or science based subject, ideally relevant fields such as computer science, electronic engineering or computational finance
