Role Summary:
As a GenesisCare US Certified Dosimetrist, you will be responsible for delivery of timely, high quality treatment planning, ensuring patients receive access to world class evidenced based care close to home. Working centrally within the designated Divisional Structure, you will be part of a team that embraces innovation and change and creates a Patient and Physician experience that is exceptional. You will be asked to ensure patients are planned in line with prevailing protocols and ways of working to ensure every patient at GenesisCare receives rapid access to world class care close to home.
As a Dosimetrist, you will report directly to the Dosimetry Manager in your Division who in turn reports to the Divisional Dosimetry Lead. Professionally, Dosimetry reports in-country through to Head of Physics and globally to Global Head – Clinical Technology and Innovations. In this role you will need to demonstrate flexibility and the ability to prioritize and manage time in a demanding environment and consistently role model our purpose and values. We will ask you to drive a culture of continuous improvement, delivering exceptional patient centered services.
Focus areas for this role:
- Manage all requests for treatment planning processes in a professional and timely manner that ensures high quality outcomes including rapid access to treatment by way of the highest quality plans.
- Embrace innovation to improve access to higher quality treatments that meet and/or exceed protocol requirements.
- Support all innovation, clinical trials, and research opportunities to improving outcomes for all patients.
- Actively participate in the GenesisCare Dosimetry Competency and Credentialing Framework model to improve professionally.
- Work within approved framework (Scope of Practice) models to ensure the provision of high-quality care to all GenesisCare patients.
- Identify and/or develop key internal and external relationships, opportunities for future service provisions and potential referrer or doctor partnerships.
- Act as a representative of the GenesisCare purpose, values, and strategy.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Complete Dosimetry in line with Divisional requirements and operate within your defined scope of practice (scope of practice defined by competency framework).
- Implement approved treatment plans in accordance with protocols and policies that will deliver the radiation prescription.
- Deliver plans in-line with global benchmarks that align on quality, access, and efficiency.
- Communicate these aspects to physician for plan approval, and to the Radiation Therapist for plan implementation
- Document the prescription in patient’s record in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist's intent and instructions.
- Supervise, perform, or assist in the production of associated devices
- Assist the therapy staff in the implementation of the treatment plan and problem solving including: the correct use of immobilization devices, compensators,
- wedges, field arrangement, or other treatment variables as well as image guided radiotherapy or respiratory gating.
- Complete all specified quality assurance treatment planning processes to ensure high quality plan delivery and minimization or risk and harm.
- Complete all specified quality assurance recording requirements on a weekly and at end of treatment basis.
- Supervise, perform, or assist in the application of specific methods of dosimetry including ion chamber, TLD, or film measurement as directed by the Medical Physicist
- Maintain licensure, undertake mandatory and professional development to practice safely and in accordance with all professional and regulatory requirements
- Teach applied aspects of medical dosimetry to students and residents, as assigned
- Practice and Follow Privacy (NSA) and HIPPA guidelines
- Assist with the planning and participate in supporting programs to ensure effective and safe use of radiation and radionuclides in patients
- Interacts with patients, staff and other stakeholders in a way that embraces all 5 GenesisCare values.
- Attends mandatory company training sessions as required by company policies and state/federal law where applicable
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Professional Certification (or requirements for certification)
- Associate of Science or bachelor’s degree in the physical or biological sciences and ARRT/RT(T) certification preferred
- 1 to >5 years of experience in medical dosimetry under the supervision of a Certified Medical Dosimetrist or Medical Physicist
- Must have basic computer and typing skills
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Experience with any of the following (all are preferred):
- Monaco/ Mosaiq
- Eclipse/ARIA
- Elekta and Varian linacs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion/Participation in GenesisCare Credentialing and Scope of Practice Programs.
- Basic understanding of the technical aspects of radiation oncology, medical physics, and tolerance doses to derive computerized treatment plans
- Working knowledge of radiation safety and correct use of immobilization devices and other treatment variables
- Experience with IMRT, VMAT, SRS, SBRT, IGRT.
- CT/MR based HDR
- Proven ability to work within cross functional multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to manage internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Graduate level qualifications in a relevant area – a either Health care or business related.
- Travel when required to other sites and/or leadership meetings.
