GenPride's Program Director is at the heart of the GenPride Center at Pride Place, the Pacific Northwest's first affordable and affirming housing and community center built for LGBTQIA2S and allied older adults.  


Genpride's Program Director collaborates widely and centers racial equity, engagement, and joy to develop, implement and evaluate programs for LGBTQIA2S/rainbow elders at the GenPride Center and throughout Seattle and King County. The program director thrives in an organization poised for growth, change, and transformation. They maintain a full events calendar reflecting GenPride's commitment to equity, belonging, liberation, and our communities' diverse needs and experiences.  

 

This full-time, exempt position works primarily in-person, in a community center setting with frequent and regular interruptions. The Program Director's schedule may include early morning, evening, and weekend hours. This position reports to the Executive Director, supervises a part-time Program Coordinator, and engages staff, partners, elders, and volunteers to meet goals.  

 

ABOUT GENPRIDE  

GenPride is the premier nonprofit organization serving the LGBTQIA2S elder community in Seattle and King County. GenPride advocates for the unique needs of older LGBTQIA2S adults and offers innovative programs and services that promote well-being, prevent social isolation, and cultivate belonging, justice, and liberation.  

 

In the heart of Capitol Hill in Seattle, GenPride is on the cusp of opening Pride Place, the Pacific Northwest's first affordable and affirming housing and community center built for LGBTQIA2S and allied older adults in collaboration with Community Roots Housing. The GenPride Center will be located on the ground floor of Pride Place to provide culturally relevant health and support services and programs to enhance the quality of life. We envision Pride Place as a fabulous place for LGBTQIA2S older adults to gather.  

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

 

GenPride Center (30%) 

  • Collaborates with Operations Director to manage participant registration processes for accessing the GenPride Center and GenPride programs, including the senior meal program. 
  • Ensures that food preparation equipment, cooking and serving utensils, kitchen work areas, and the dining area are orderly, clean, and sanitary. 
  • Problem solves and responds to crises; manages coverage for the GenPride Center. Collaborates with Operations Director to manage building security and safety. 
  • Evaluates and monitors assigned activities/programs and recommends improvements. Investigates service complaints and recommend remedial action if required; ensure the quality and consistency of programs provided by others. 


General Programs (20%) 

  • Collaborate widely with LGBTQIA2S older adults, volunteers, community partners, and staff to develop, implement, and evaluate equitable, inclusive, and accessible program activities and special events at the GenPride Center and throughout King County. 
  • Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, and evaluates the work of assigned staff. 
  • Connect with other senior centers and community organizations to offer collaborative programs for rainbow elders.  
  • Team up with the community to create fun spaces and activities led by volunteer instructors and host events that attract and recruit new volunteers and clients, focusing on intersectional LGBTQIA2S communities.  
  • Collaborate with Engagement & Development Director to raise public awareness of our center's programs through media, community groups, and our participants and  
  • Manage the community dining program.  


Volunteers (30%

  • Recruit, welcome, train, coordinate, and cultivate a diverse team of capable volunteers who will lead/facilitate or assist with most programs offered.  
  • Work to ensure that volunteers feel valued and have a sense of meaning and appreciation. 
  • Collaborate with others to regularly review and update the volunteer onboarding process, including orientation, training, and ongoing support, so that volunteers have the awareness and skills to foster equity, belonging, and joy in their efforts.  


Systems and Reporting (10%)

  • Performs daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and data entry.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local, and department laws, regulations, and requirements.  
  • Collect data, prepare reports, and meet our grant commitments.  
  • Ensures that participants and volunteers follow all GenPride and grant-funded requirements and procedures and that all client information is securely tracked and reports submitted in line with grant commitments 


Internal Leadership (10%)

  • Recommends staff selection; trains staff in work procedures; administers discipline as required. • Provides input into the division's budgetary and goal-setting processes; oversees and manages expenditures; ensures adequate supply inventories.  
  • Manage and coach program team members to implement GenPride's efforts in a values-aligned way that emphasizes mutual trust, support, autonomy, and commitment to supporting the leadership of team members.   
  • Serve as a GenPride's staff Coordinating Team member to ensure efforts are aligned, supported, and integrated. 
  • Understand and integrate racial justice into individual and team work plans and broader strategic planning efforts.  
  • Commit to personal growth, learning, and transformation, taking the initiative to expand your understanding of racial justice and related principles, issues, and practice and how they apply to your and our work. 
  • Meaningfully participate in caucus groups, organizational learning sessions, and other opportunities to shape our organizational culture.  
  • Actively participate in evolving the organizational culture at GenPride to be mission-focused, inclusive, values-aligned, and community-centered.  
  • Contribute to developing a culture of engagement at GenPride. 

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS  

  • A deep commitment to equity and social justice and experience working with people with a breadth of lived experiences, especially those disproportionately impacted by injustices, including LGBTQIA and BIPOC folks and older adults.
  • The ability to cultivate relationships and work effectively with a broad spectrum of people, including building quick credibility and ongoing trust with coworkers, partners, volunteers, and elders.  
  • Two years experience working/volunteering in community centers. 
  • At least two years of experience coordinating and managing projects professionally with many engaged and diverse stakeholders, including supervising staff.  
  • Two years of experience working with older adults and with volunteers. 
  • Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities. 
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative environment, willing to communicate and welcome ideas and suggestions. 
  • Ability to take and provide direction and feedback with care and adapt quickly to evolving priorities.  
  • Understands the foundational role that racism, ableism, sexism, ageism, homo and transphobia, and other forms of bias and oppression play in perpetuating inequity. Committed to eliminating the impact of inequities within the scope and purpose of this role.  
  • Demonstrated capacity for self-reflection, humility, and curiosity, and skilled in repairing professional relationships.  
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint) and Adobe Suite, and willing to adapt to new technologies.  

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

Complete COVID vaccination is required. Physical skills and ability to perform work that requires sitting, being able to move around the center, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Able to work in a community center setting with frequent and regular interruptions, including some early morning, evening, and weekend hours,  

 

COMPENSATION  

Salary: $70,000 - $77,000 

We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes the option of fully paid medical/dental/vision coverage for employees, generous and flexible paid time off, paid family and medical leave, a transit pass (where available), and support for ongoing professional development. In-office time are expected for the role.
