Your Role
As a Human Resources Generalist in Gensler’s Southeast Region, you will work closely with team members and leadership in supporting full-cycle talent management programs and initiatives. This is an opportunity to be part of a strategic HR service model in a creative and cutting-edge environment. You will be one of the day-to-day contacts to educate, advise, facilitate and deliver on the firm’s core HR services, which include onboarding, professional development, employee engagement and relations, compensation, benefits, mobility, legal compliance and HRIS.
What You Will Do
Work closely with SE Regional HR team, studio leaders and office leadership on people matters related to talent development, performance management and employee relations
Advocate for team members, be a trusted and confidential advisor, and suggest best practices to enhance employee experiences
Counsel managers and leaders on human resources issues, providing insight and options compliant with legislation and consistent with Gensler philosophies, policies and culture
Assist in proactively developing staff and leadership via tools developed by the Talent Development Team
Independently create presentations and internal correspondence for the office
Create and maintain periodic and ad hoc reports regarding metrics, employee demographics, salary, staffing/productivity, and other related information
Assist with various research projects and/or special projects
Understand all Gensler policies and ensure compliance
Respond to employee questions and requests regarding benefits, payroll and policies
Facilitate training; conduct new hire on-boarding and orientation
Maintain and execute employee recognition programs
Partner with other members of HR to deliver HR programs, initiatives and services
Benefits administration
Personnel file management
Manage and resolve employee relations issues
Coach managers in workforce planning, recruiting and development
Partner with HR Director and leadership regarding compensation and reward programs
Oversee initial employee evaluation process
Conduct exit interviews, analyze data, and make recommendations to the leadership team for action and continuous improvement
Understand and be able to interpret all Gensler policies to ensure understanding and compliance
Facilitate global mobility of employees with transfer, relocation, and visa processing
Partner with HR team colleagues to create and innovate HR practices
Other duties and responsibilities as needed
Your Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related area is preferred, or equivalent experience
8 years of Human Resources experience
SPHR or PHR Certificate preferred, or in process
Experience in an architecture, engineering or professional services firm preferred
Working knowledge of employment law and compliance regulations at federal, state and local levels
Advanced MS Office proficiency preferred, particularly Excel
Experience with Workday or other comparable HRIS systems required including data entry, management reporting and analysis
Ability to produce timely deliverables and manage multiple and shifting priorities in a dynamic environment
Ability to work independently, navigate and maintain productivity in a highly matrixed environment
Strong customer service orientation, a team player with the ability to establish collaborative working relationships
Foundational understanding of benefits, compensation theory and application, recruiting systems, employment law and government compliance, organizational change models, HR best practices, and change management theory and application principles
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) required
Ability to persuade and influence leadership on people matters
*This is not a remote position. The successful candidate will be expected to live in, or relocate to, the Washington, D.C., Baltimore, or Tampa area upon acceptance.
