The Accounts Receivable Coordinator - Collections is responsible for all functions related to collections in the Accounting department, to include: collection calls, correspondence, account review and customer service.


Job Duties:


  • Monitor the firm’s accounts receivable and identify overdue accounts.
  • Contact customers with overdue accounts and attempt to either collect the overdue amount or negotiate a payment plan to collect it in installments.
  • Use credit bureau data, post office information, internet searches and other tools to try to locate customers who have moved or changed phone numbers.
  • Maintain records of contacts and attempted contacts with delinquent account customers as well as records of any payments collected from the customer.
  • Resolve customer issues and complaints concerning billing, applying all payments and adjustments in our E-Courier system.
  • Submit regular reports on the status of unpaid accounts and any repayment progress.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close preparation of filing and reports.
  • Other duties as required and assigned

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency
  • Minimum 4 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • High volume, corporate collections experience preferred

  • Accounts Receivable experience preferred

  • Knowledge of billing and collections procedures

  • PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret bills

  • Ability to write and send proper business correspondence

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and co-workers

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service when dealing with anger/rejection

Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles, and is regularly exposed to ambient lighting and temperate climate conditions.
