George Fox University's Advancement team is seeking an organized, pastoral, enthusiastic Donor Relations Manager to build relationships, enhance the donor experience, and communicate with our donor community. About the Job:

As a key member of the Advancement team, the Donor Relations Manager will develop and oversee gift stewardship and reporting programs that enhance the donor experience and improve retention and upgrade goals for constituents. Reporting to the Director of Constituent Engagement, the Donor Relations Manager administers and executes a comprehensive stewardship program to enhance and build relationships with the community, university donors, volunteers, supporters, and others with an interest in the mission of George Fox University. The individual in this position will oversee stewardship communications and collaborate within the Advancement team to reach stewardship goals.


Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Donor Stewardship: In collaboration with Advancement Team, develop and execute donor stewardship strategies for donors with diverse interests and goals across a variety of giving levels (60%).
  • Events Coordination: Work with Advancement team and President's Office staff to hold key donor stewardship and cultivation events (30%).
  • Data Management: Work with the Advancement Operations team to ensure that donor segmentation and lists are up to date (10%).
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.

A day in the life of this position:

The Donor Relations Manager plays a vital role in the Advancement office, working collaboratively with the engagement team to ensure that all donors are seen, acknowledged, and feel a part of the mission and vision of George Fox. They communicate clearly and professionally through oral and written communications created for a wide audience, enjoy creating opportunities and events for people to connect more intentionally to the university, and are detail-oriented, not wanting one person to be overlooked. Day to day responsibilities range from tracking donations, to creating engaging systems to thank donors, and imagining and executing events that inspire the community.


We're looking for candidates who have:

  • Two or more years of college and/or an Associate's Degree
  • Proven and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral) and the ability to connect with a wide spectrum of people.
  • Well-developed organizational, planning, prioritizing, administrative and presentation skills. Must be self-motivated and driven to the achievement of results.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, tact, confidentiality and initiative. Must be upbeat and a team player.
  • An appreciation for an inclusive environment that values diversity, engages in global concerns, and connects culturally.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Preference will be given to those who have the following attributes:

  • Two (2) years related work experience and/or a Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with events and donor correspondence.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Proficient with donor databases. PeopleSoft knowledge, a plus.
  • A commitment to the highest standards of customer service and professionalism.
  • The ability to exercise good judgment and make sound decisions in support of the goals of George Fox University.
